So, I'd be willing to bet some pretty good money that my BJ74 is the oldest on ih8mud (and probably the oldest still in existence).

I don't want to give it away too early, so I'll keep quiet for now.

I know a lot of people won't be comfortable posting chassis numbers, so lets start with blocks of 100.

Eg. My bj74 is BJ74-00016**

We can hone in down to smaller blocks if that comes to it.

So, who has the earliest 74 out there?

-Adam.

going to have to do better than that:
BJ740000852
BJ740000880
BJ740000894

first 2 i imported from Japan in 2003/04 ... still running around Alberta.

so,
how much is the cheque worth that i will be receiving from you?

I'll post a picture of the chassis number in good time.

As best as I can tell chassis numbers up to 14 don't appear to have been sold, so might have been pre-production vehicles. So chassis number BJ74-0000055 is actually the 41st BJ74 on the road, but even halving that won't beat mine :p

I guess the other thing we can be looking at, is who has the last BJ74 still about?

When did they stop production? 12/89? So, who owns the newest BJ74?

the newest BJ74 was sold by Rising Sun to someone in BC, it was the last production number.
not sure where you got the info about the first 14 were never on the road??

how does halving 0000055 not beat 00016**??

Do you have any idea what that number is/was??

I have mid 4000 for the vin.

I have 00047** and thats only a build date of 11/88 so I dont think either of us are even close

i used to ... lets see if i can find a link ...
nah, his site is down now. he boasted of having the last production BJ74 for sale and i looked into it. he had the last serial number recorded for that series.
last i heard he sold it to a gent in BC.

there was a russian site i used to use to verify vins back in the day. it also is now down.

i never bothered to record the actual vin, wasn't that important to me.

back in 2003 there were only 3 importers in Canada bringing in the Land Cruisers, Lostguide, Luxury Imports, and Mustang ... Risingsun came to light in 2004, he scored some pretty cool units including this last one.

I think he buggered off somewhere without updating, that mongrel.

I'm a bit touchy about the exact number, because our transport department isn't above crawling over internet forums and you can have your car confiscated for 90 days if it has modifications (yes, really) on the first offence and permanently if they catch you with a modified car again.

Anyway, mine is between BJ74-0000015 and BJ74-0000025.

With regards to the first 14 not being sold, I'm not certain of it at all, but when I was in getting some parts off the local dealership, the guy remarked that mine was really early and then bashed on the computer for a while and said the earliest was #15. This also lines up with what you get if you try searching by chassis number.
