Hi,
Anyone experience in trying 1/4 bedliner inside tub versus 1/8 bedliner plus dynamat for sound deadening?

I got quoted that 1/4 line-x is double the estimate of 1/8 ($560). It would be nice to not have to put in dynamat but the cost is high. Regardless I was planning to put dynamat on my roof. I have some samples of linex and i do like it if i have to put protection down before sound deadening.

I love my metal floor but the ringing in my ears even before i get in my truck is bad enough i need to quiet it down as much as possible, even though i know it will never be as quiet as a modern vehicle.

Thanks,
Mike

I dont think dynamat is that durable
Were you planning on putting it under or over the bedliner?
From what I have read, you cant topcoat dynamat or line-x and expect it to hold up.

The 1/4 line-x remains (somehwhat) soft and is great at reducing noise

Think about dynamat on the roof, in the doors and on the top inside of the firewall - line-x everywhere else

Check with Justin (RLMS on mud) with Redline...I think they did that on project snowflake. I haven't seen him since they finished the rig, so don't know the overall outcome. It was an experiment by him to see how the dynamat and bedliner would work together.

Thanks guys yeah ill check with RLMS. I would put dynamat on top of linex and then just a floor pad.

Awesome though If 1/4 linex works like you said i'll do that. My big worry for that was if i paid alot and there was alot of weight added but no real increase in sound deadening. I heard 1/8 doesn't really do all that much. And yes ill do dynamat roof and doors at some point as well.

Thanks for info!
Mike

I used Lizard Skin on the top and bottom of the floor pan. Painted over the top on the inside. They have a 2 part process consisting of a sound barrier and heat shield. I am really happy with how it turned out. It has been very durable and has a smoother texture than Line-X.

Hmm good point. I could use lizard skin in doors and top too instead of dynamat. Maybe ill consider doing lizard skin under 1/8 linex on floor if that works too. Thx!

Oh oh... what a timely thread. I am also sitting on the fence trying to decide what to do with my tub sound deadening project.

Please please please let me know what you find out from RLMS on the ____liner over Dynamat because that is exactly what I hope to do. I'm using tintable SEM Rock-it Liner on the underside and floor of my tub. I'd really like to know if I can lay down Dynamat Xtreme or Be-Quiet/Brown Bread and coat over it with the Rock-it Liner.

I would probably use the Dynamat under the tub up to the vertical portion of the firewall. The firewall itself I'll just paint. But, inside the tub, I could lay the Dynamat up under the dash/firewall, stopping where the angled portion of the foot well begins. I wouldn't subject the Dynamat to high traffic areas (like the bed floor or floor boards. But, I would like to do the trans tunnel and maybe even the hard top sides as well as under the headliner.

There are also a couple other brands that are much cheaper than Dynamat. I'm having a hard time figuring out if Dynamat is just that much better or if they just a well staffed marketing department.
Any feedback or input would be appreciated!

Ok sure I sent a pm I'll let you know if I hear anything. I did ask about other types previously on the forum, quietcrap and stuff. Asked couple times for a sample from the vendor on the forums but never got a second response. So without other samples I figure I'll get dynamat bc its proven to work. I also tried some imitation stuff on my old Fj62 and it was a lot of work for little payoff. I plan on doing bedliner under the dynamat, but if can use lizard skin and then bedliner on that and have it be good enough that would be great.

LelandEOD - sent you a message. RLMS replied that it seems to work. 1/8 dynamat over linex. He will let me know more as he finds out more.

Thanks,
Mike
