Durabak removal

I'm looked at a 77 FJ40 today. The guy covered all the body with gray Durabak. How hard would it be to get it off? Or would I be better off buying a different vehicle?

It being a one-part system (IE no catalyst) I'd say it shouldn't be much more than a little longer version of any other paint removal job.

Use an angle grinder equipped with a COARSE wire wheel.

It will take a LONG time to remove it from the entire body but it will do it. You will have a mess to clean up unless your angle grinder has a vac attachment.

My concern would be what he was hiding with that Durabak! Another thing I have found useful is one of those needle strippers.

The Jasco brand Stripper stuff eats through that stuff pretty well... It'll get down to bare body so use wisely and don't get it on your skin! Oh and WELL VENTALATED AREA!
