Thank you; they are much improved. The welds in the pics have been lightly wire brushed, but there is some slag and splatter before cleaning of course. I'm using an older Napa 135 set up with reversed polarity and Lincoln Innershield .030 NR211 wire. My welder is set up for gas, but I'm just not at a place to buy into the bottle exchange right now.

I'll admit that my abilities and standards are much lower than others here, but I do think this is a reasonable system for the 16-18 gauge joints I'm doing.
Reverse polarity? I am uneducated about the process though am self taught with my flux core. I thought you only reversed polarity when using gas? Can someone school me on that?

Build looks great!

Actually, you're right. I'm welding straight polarity (electrode negative) with flux core. Switching from reversed to straight made a huge difference in the quality of my flux core welds--huge difference. Thanks for catching that. And thanks for looking.

You bet. It's a universal attachment for a power washer:

NorthStar High-Pressure Abrasive Blasting Kit — 3500 Max. PSI | Pressure Washer Hoses| Northern Tool + Equipment

Playground sand from Home Depot. $3.73 per 50 lb. bag. You have to sift the large chunks out, but it's very coarse and its a kind of sand I don't mind ending up on the lawn and in the flower beds.

20-30 seconds maybe. I'm using a 13hp. 3,700 psi, 4.0 GPM power washer that I borrowed from work.

Yes, siphon fed system. The sand is flying up the hose though. You wouldn't want more sand in the water stream than you get I don't think.

Agreed.

I found one of these brand new on eBay for $30.00 plus shipping but my pressure washer not big enough to run without clogging every 5 minutes!

I am not screening the Play Sand, I guess I should.

Big night . . .

I've been getting some good 'study breaks' in working on the truck and stuff is getting done.

Wiring harness in!
Fuel system done!
Cooling system water tight!
Fluids topped!

Battery DEAD! Quick trip to the in-laws to borrow a charger and an hour later . . .

VARRRROOOOOOOOMMMMM!!!! :bounce::bounce2::bounce:

Brought the wife out to the garage and told her it was time to give starting it a shot. Even with the battery at 25% it started right up on the first try. First time I've run that engine and after 20 seconds of idle I had a huge smile on my face and my wife and I were high-fiving our success. My wife said--"there is hope."

Good night indeed.

Cool. Been thinking about a painless but everything on mine works as well so I think when I do my teardown, I'll probably end up using the old one as well.
Nice work. Looking forward to seeing on the road soon.

Not all wives show the same enthusiasm. LOL

Oh yeah, she's a keeper.

Bolted in my freshly reupholstered seats yesterday, checked the brakes, and took a quick test drive down my street and back. When I drove by a couple 8-year-old neighbor kids I heard one say, "he built that."

Still need seat belts, front turn signals, and license plates and I'll be road-legal. Hoping to drive it to work Friday. :steer:

Dealing with a couple strange electrical issues:

1. When the headlights are on, my right rear turn signal stays lit and lights up the green arrow on the cluster.

2. My windshield wipers won't park--always did before.

3. That little light that shines through the light switch mysteriously works for the first time ever.

4. My right front turn signal works but flashes very fast and very dim.

Congrats! Pictures! Id check grounds and bulbs for your blinker problems.

Yes, pics soon.

I need to look at the wiring diagram for the blinkers. When I replaced the front blinker/marker bulb the rear blinker stayed lit, but only at 10% of the intensity of before. :hhmm:

Wipers park now. :)

Cannot figure the turn signals out. I can only get three to work at a time. I'm chasing the problem from corner to corner!

Now the wipers either don't park or park vertical. :hhmm:

Turn signals are now working perfectly! It was just a matter of bad wires, bad grounds, and bad bulbs. Piece of cake. ;)

mine never park...ever.... in the almost 20 years ive been driving my truck...i am very use to... and good at shuting them off at the right moment :)

one day maybe i'll fix it LOL

Thank you JohnnyC--I can always count on you to keep the bar low for those of us who are broke family men, LOL. I wouldn't mind if they didn't park, but now they consistently park vertical!
