I like the looks w/o the filler lights in the taillgate. Bad pics but it looks kinda like an aftermarket coverup??

Those tail light covers were mentioned here. I like the cleaner look of the 80 tailgate but IMO, this looks kinda ricey since you can see the lines. You can buy the covers from Japan if you so please.

This is not after market stuff.. it comes from the factory to the dealership just like that with the OEM tire carrier.. I wanted to convert my LC rear to be the same as the one pictured above.. I would have had to replace the top hatch as well as the bottom.. the bottom hatch is different to accommodate the tire carrier.. the LC pictured is a mid range I6 btw.. this one is not really a cover, it's metal and it's part of the hatch.. as you can notice form the picture the left tail light has no cover :)

Ah, thanks, Siglo. Nice to get 1st hand info. It's a little difficult to tell from the picture. I'd like to see a pic with the tire carrier open. They should've made the right side more like the left. I don't see why they wouldn't if the top and lower hatch are both different than what we get here.

@hoser

I was wondering about that myself.. you see the top hatch in the above picture has the penning lever right above the license plate inside that black plastic cover IIRC.. I had a print of the parts manual for both type of doors somewhere.. if I can find it, I'll try to scan it and post it here..

Hey Sig, I found something. I think this one goes over the existing panel. The direct translation is "smoothing panel."

And one more.

Hoser, that must be the original photo! Some US 100's need to do that, looks cool! Makes a whole lot of sense if you run a rr tire carrier like Slee's

That's "smooving pano", you plick...

(sorry couldn't help myself, allright everyone who's gonna rip me a new one -- go.)
