I know there where some guys using np200 parts in the np205 case to achieve the dual offset or dual rear outputs, for six wheeled vehicles and what not. just checkn to see if anyone managed to make it work correctly.

all i could get with np200 parts in a np205 case was low rang.
and that will not work for me.

so i did lots of research and got a shop to take the project of
making a shaft to allow the np205 to have dual offset outputs, thus allowing it to be used in my cummins fj80.
basicly its an extended offset shaft that carries the stock np205 gears and uses a np200 rear output bearing carrier to support the rear of the exstended shaft.
with this shaft part time 4wd will not be an option.

these will be heat treated and made by profesionals. i have no idea on the cost just kinda gauging intrest.

i know there are other tcase options with this conversion. im not interested in those. there is no reason why we cant run an atlas or a np205 in a vehicle that has offset pumpkins.

cheers,
Weston

im pretty sure im going to pull the plug on this part. i have a blueprint for the shaft i will sell it if the price is right

why convert the 205? why not use the 200 in stock form?

The 200 has been flogged in mud and small time monster trucks for years with good success.

They even have flanges like a toyota tcase too.

The 200 in my ol 1952 M37 is going strong after 59 years of service.

Why the complicated 205 build? Whats the pros?

Jess at Highangle Driveline did this a couple of years ago. Not positive if it was full time 4WD or not.

from what i know about them, the np200 will overheat at highway speeds, it is from a vehicle that was not meant to go over 40mph for a long period of time. earlier today I spoke with a guy that says he knows a guy that has done this conversion. or at least got an np205 to be a dual passenger side drop. I'm not convinced yet but I'm staying positive about it, i should know within a day or two what the scoop is, the np200 is a full time 4x4 case, or at least the parts i have look like they are from a full time 4x4.
i spoke with the machine shop foreman today and he seems to think it can be done within a month and the cost will be less than half the cost of a new trans, AA, tcase, and id be able to use the rear drive line i had made. so. depending on how the next couple of days go i will know for sure which direction i will be going.

pros: in comparison to a nv4500,AA, split case
a less expensive drive terrain that is much more reliable and durable that was made to be used with the cummins power. the getrag shifts smother than the nv4500,. and the np205 is a VERY tough tcase, i have the trans and tcase with the donor np200 parts.
all i need is a shop that does not dilly dally that also has the where with all to make a perfect part.
who knows i might be able to sell a few shafts to help re-couple the initial cost.i believe this is a solution to a problem. i feel most use the nv & AA out of convenience no necessarily because it is the absolute best combination of parts. wouldn't you rather have a np205 behind a high HP/tq motor? the boys at profits might even want in on the action who knows. even if it didn't sell i would have a drive train and the power to pull a house. and unhook and go for a road trip and drive 75 mph.

the one thing i dislike is it will be a full time 4wd tcase but with some manual hubs it shouldn't be to much extra wear on the front end, hopefult it does not effect the mpg much if any.

I just went out and spun mine and it it part time not full time.

The front shaft turns freely in 2HI. I have factory twin sticks too!

You are correct about the trucks speed. 37 is cruising speed and 42 is tops and starts to rattle/vibrate stuff. I took the GPS with me one day to find out!

That sure is allot of work compared to building a centered rear axle.

thanks for that info,
i dont have a full np200 i only bough what i needed to do the conversion.

No problem I can check anything else external if you like. Just remember its in a functioning truck so I can only check so many things.

A friend of mine had one a few months ago and was trying to get me to deal him out of it cuz he knows I like shiit like that.

I can get it out of him if you are interested in a complete one. Im in the Mt Rainier WA area if interested.

Gonna be heading by you on the way to KOH this month.

ah, sounded like s good reason to post a pic!

Im such a picture whore!

You're going with a Getrash oven an NV4500? Granted, the early Dodge versions din't shift great, later versions and all the Chevy versions shift very well and you can get parts for these.

I understand all of that but the np205 is a strong case, and i allready have the getrag, in my opinion its as good if not better than the nv4500.

i did find a guy that has built a few billet "split cases" that are completly custom that would allow my offset and be much stronger than the 205 but they ae clostly and a little of an over kill for what i have going.
