I'm having two problems that I hope are some way associated: My driver's side high-beam HIR (that I put in last fall) is already gone! After being positive that I kept it totally clean during installatin, I'm really pretty PO'd that this expensive "long-life" bulb is alreay burned out. With that said, I also noticed that my DRL's are no longer working. I can turn the lights on manually, and everything's OK (except for the driver's high beam). I also checked the #21 fuse (engine compartment fuse panel) that runs the passenger-side high beam AND the DRL's, and it's fine. Therfore, since the DRL's are on the high beams on an LX, would one bulb being burned out prevent the other lamp from functioning as a DRL?

Please advise (also, any suggestion on good high bem lamps that last?)

1) The HIR's in my 80 (both low and high beam) and the ones in the LX470 (high beam only) are still working after some time. (over a year in the 80, 'bout 4 months in the LX). The high beams are rated for less time than the low beams, so maybe the continuous power they get in the LX for daytime running lights really works against their calendar life. Still, they should last just as long as a standard high-beam bulb.

Call the company you bought them from and ask them what they think, because you may have a defective bulb.

2) I'd bet you are correct in asssuming your daytime running lights are non-functional with one bulb burnt out.
