Hey guys looking for a easy fix on this one hopefully. But ive got a gut feeling im up for a new clutch pack.
Car is a 100 series cruiser 98 model 1hz manual.
Goes great to start with but after 10 min driving 3,4,5 seem to slip if you give it a bit of pedal. Eg go to overtake go from 4th to 3rd and accelerate. Tacho goes to around 3000rpm car does accelerate but slowly. Then after 10 sec revs drop you can hear load on the engine more now and accelration starts quicker.
So what do you think??
Thanks in advance

Fluid level up to snuff?

Manual transmission? No clutch packs in there
Probably the synchronizes are shot.

Well, it sounds like you are describing a worn clutch on a manual transmission.

The clutch only creates a certain amount of friction, and it gets less if the clutch is worn.
The gearing disadvantage is what causes it to only slip in higher gears.

The synchronizers shouldn't cause the symptoms you are describing, that really sound like a worn clutch.

The synchronizers (synchromesh) are only used to bring the selector and gear to the same speed using friction.
If your synchromesh rings are shot your gears won't engage easily and probably create a grinding sound.

For more info on manual transmissions (4.3 for synchromesh):
Manual transmission - Wikipedia

This video describes how the synchromesh works (and that it should not cause the symptoms you describe):

Here is a video that describes the symptoms of a worn clutch:

But clutch slippage could also be caused by for example oil on your clutch.
My dad's 2000 2.4TD Manual 5spd Toyota Hilux also had a slipping clutch, after some inspection we found out that the turbo was leaking oil. That oil was running down on and over the clutch, causing slippage. New turbo (seal), problem solved.

At the moment I'm driving a car that has the same symptoms, clutch is worn and it will be replaced soon.
If I try to acellerate fast in 3, 4 and 5 the clutch slips.

Have a mechanic diagnose the problem and possibly replace your clutch.
In the meantime try to not let the clutch slip too much as it will wear out faster.
