My driver's side-view mirror is very loose. It acts as if it is going to fall from the mirror housing any minute. When I hit a bump it just shakes. What can I do to tighten my mirror back up??? Please Help....

Seems to be a common problem in the 80's. There is a hole in the bottom of the housing where you can stick a screwdriver in to adjust - if you can tighten it and eliminate the problem that way you are golden.

Mine was worse than that. I removed the screw and lifted the mirror/motor assembly out. The plastic loops that the mirror/motor hang onto were broken and the PO had tried to repair.

The long and short of it is that a few big gobs of RTV will take care of it - I did this and taped the mirror in place overnight and no more wobbles for me.

Weird, mine is loose as well but not bad yet.

i got a 62 series with a loose mirror and they seem to get loose mirrors too.I just keep wedging pieces of foam till they fall out.

Eric's advice is the preferred solution.

My 93 has the same issue but on both mirrors.
I just reconstructed the plastic loops out of 24 guage sheet metal and epoxied them on.
Just installed them an hour ago so im not sure how it will last.

No problem, Kino - but I can't take the credit!

I either saw the solution here or on the 80scool page...can't remember which.

JD40 - the PO of mine had done similar with metal washers epoxied to the motor. One had broken off and just wasn't cutting it anymore.

So far mine have held up great.
Oh wait, its still sitting on the jackstands waiting for my OME to arrive via pack mule.

Eric - Ill keep your repair in mind if I get the chance to try and rattle these loose.

just be careful not to overtighten the screw on the bottom as it screws into plastic that can and will break with too much force, seems like i read that somewhere or something
