I'm starting to look for a 60 in earnest. My ideal rig would be driver quality, nice enough that it's not full of rust holes but not so nice I feel guilty driving it in the winter. Already 5-speed swapped would be awesome but might be out of budget for me. Needing some mechanical work is fine. I bought my '07 LX here on mud and @tacoduck sold me a great truck, so hoping I can find the same with a 60.

What is your budget? My transmission just went out and I am in the process of acquiring parts for a 5 speed swap and T-case rebuild. I figured I wouldn’t get the right money without doing the transmission before listing.

That could work for me if the price is right! PM me what you have in mind :)

Bringing this back to the top. Also started looking at importing an HJ61 from Europe.

-also, just cleared out my inbox

I think you can get a decent 4 speed 60 in your price range. If you baseline it and get it running really well you won't hate the 4 speed. The H55 doesn't make a shocking difference IMHO. That said, I might swap our red 60 to and H55 at some point. My 12HT/H55 truck is great but it always surprises me how little the rpm's change shifting into 5th.
A Euro 61 is killer, but your price range will be skewed, especially for a LHD model. I just built one instead of buying one. Was easy- only took 3 years and an obscene amount of money and time

Appreciate the perspective! So many folks talk about the 5 speed making a transformative difference on the highway - so the engine isn't screaming at 70mph. Has your experience been different?

Just swapped in my 6/85 60 series. I can do 80 at 2750 rpm. Now, it’s still a 2F but it’s made driving my 60 much more enjoyable. Also getting 15mpgs

I am only starting to consider selling. Runs really well. 235k on the clock, no rust. 4 spd manual, but have 35in tires, so a faux overdrive. I would thinking around ~ $25k.
