I hope you guys can give me some advice. I have a 76 with a 350tbi with marks adapter and a stock tranny and transfer. I also have a aussie in the stock rear. When I go around a corner in lets say second gear deceleration the vehical will buck back and forth, like it bouncing off either end of the drivetrain (slop) . it will not do this in a straight line. There is minimal slop in the rear end and in the transfer (testing by hand with the drive shaft off).
I can do a burnout with no noiseand the tranny shifts like butter. Is this just a characteristic of the aussie? It seems excessive. It will buck your head back and forth.

That is what happens with an Aussie. If you are decelerating or accelerating, it is trying to lock up due to centrifugal forces. If you ride the clutch thru the turn and then accelerate it will be fine. I am sure there is a sweet spot in each gear that it will not buck, but you are going to be pretty much coasting, wihich allows the Aussie to unlock and ratchet. In an automatic, I just coast thur the turns. I believe this action is present in all auto locking lockers including the detroit locker. It just take practice and feel.

I'm glad to hear I'm not the only on that has this issue. Mine does the same thing. It seems to be more prevalant when I make a left. Other than that it's great.

Yep sounds like it's your locker...mine does the same thing (about gave my :princess: wiplash the first time she was in the car). Like Thornton mentioned for some reason more so when I'm making a left.

Howdy! Yup, pretty common for any auto locker. I have learned to do 90% of my braking before I start the turn, and then just at about 5% acceleration thru the turn and it will pull around pretty steady. When I just can't do it that way, I push in the clutch till I get it back straight. I just drive like I'm in a big truck, the heck with the traffic. John
