I posted last week about a driveline noise I had while coasting (no throttle). I dropped the rear driveshaft engaged the center diff lock and drove w/o it. The noise is gone. On closer inspection, the rear u-joint on the rear shaft had about 1/16" play in one axis. I'll be getting some bearings and shims to rebuild the U-joints. How many bananas for this job? Do I really need the SST as shown in the manual?

I also dropped the front shaft and rotated the sleeve yoke to out-of-phase position. This was a piece of cake after the zirk was removed. Haven't noticed a difference driving but won't be on the highway until the rear shaft is reinstalled.

One thing I noticed during my brief experience with FWD cruiser: clicking from my right birf was more noticeable / more frequent. I'm guessing there's greater stress on the front axles because they are doing ALL the work now.

Glad to have this forum as a resource as I never would have taken this on w/o it. The most I'd done before was change spark plugs and brake pads.
