Hey i did a search on here and on google and cant seem to find what im looking for. according to MAF, their SR kit "may require a longer driveshaft and slip yoke". Does anyone know where i can find a longer slip yoke and a drive shaft spacer? Or am i stuck lengthening my driveshaft the old fasioned way (paying someone to cut, weld, and balance it)? Or do i just splurge on some Woody shafts? I would like to just get a longer slip yoke (if its even available) and a spacer, but if that isnt possible i guess ill keep lookin.

To those who have the Man e fre SR/ rock crawler kit, what did you do with your front and rear driveshafts???

edit: i see that downey has the slip yoke...but its a weld on kit...does anyone make a non-weld on kit? (I cant weld, and dont really have the time to learn)

Howdy! MAF used to offer a long slip-yoke driveshaft for the front. Is it still available? John

The need depends on how much flex your suspension flexes. I have the same kit and after trial and error had my DS length changed to be in approx the middle of the slip/spline engagement. Too short and it will come apart on full droop. To long will have you in the used TC housing market.

Back to your question.... once you determine that the above info won't work for you, the only option is a long-travel slip joint, as you are aware. One thing I considered and looked into was having Tom Woods or High Angle modify my front DS to have a long slip joint. It can be done, just like everything else, it takes $$$. You may not need it.

Hi All:

"Longfield Super Axles" sells a drive shaft spacer for Toyotas.

I have that kit and a 2-1/2" lift spring on the front of my 78 FJ40. I haven't done anything to my driveshaft. I realize that it's a bit short, but I carry a trail spair and haven't had any troubles yet. before you hack up your driveshaft, install the lift, find a forklift to pick up a tire and measure the minimum and maximum lengths you'll need, and then figure out how much you will need to lengthen your driveshaft. If may not need lengthening as much as if might need a longer slip.

Yes, we do have longer travel slip yokes and adapters. And yes they must be welded on by your home town drive shaft shop (normally not you in your garage, unless you have a way of centering and aligning them).
BUYER BEWARE:
(a) Some long travel slip yokes are set up for hard core rock crawling, but are not set-up to hold lubrication, and are not repairable since the bearing caps have been weldede into place. These are generally used on vehicles trailered to and from.
(b) Some, including Downeys do not give greater angles, could be troublesome on SOA vehicles??
