Hello All, I wanted to show off how I fixed my turn.drive lights on my 72 FJ40. Over the years the light covers have began to fade and get a fog over them. I imagine this is normal wear and tear. Anyhow, I got the idea from a friend to wet sand them and cover them in Clear Coat. MAN, the turnout was way better than I expected!!! I could not be more pleased.

2000 grit wet sand with soapy water, a little clear coat paint... and Voilà' Looks like new!

Thanks

Elwin

holy cow! that turned out fantastic. I've got another project to add to the list! thanks

Those must have been aftermarket lense covers. My stock ones are not faded at all after 31 years. Good to know about the fix though.

Later,

Aftermarket...

I am quite sure that they are aftermarket. I don't mind. I love the way they turned out! I did the same thing to my friends 200 Jetta this weekend, his head light cover was very fogged over! Now it is as see through as the day it was made.

It is such an easy process.
