I tried the search, but either did not ask the 8 ball the right way or my spelling sucks! Had the AC on for a 50 minute drive and when we arrived, picked up a few things out of the passenger footwell and had water on the floor. It was dripping from the box above the footwell, (this happened in a VW that I owned and found the AC drain clogged and fixed it w/a paperclip) is the same thing happening here? The water was dripping along the "bottom" where the front screws together . (if you can follow my technical description there )

thanks

I do not exactly where the A/C drainage system is on the 100 (never had this issue) but a quick glance to the FSM would tell you. Do you have one?

I think it is in the ps lower firewall, visible in the engine compartment, but I'm not 100%.

I don't have a manual yet, I plan on doing the $10.00 deal soon for both vehicles. I'll look tomorrow and see if I can find it in the compartment, if I discover anything of interest I'll post it! Thanks for the info.

whats the 10.00 deal?

Drain line is on the passenger side firewall and is a metal fitting sticking out about 2/3 of the way down.

I have a 1999 model and am fighting a wet passenger floor board but it is coming from rain water. Dealer can't seem to find it. The floor has gotten saturated so many times now the car has a distinct odor.

Any ideas.

Was it raining? The 100 has 2 drain holes up in the front corners of the sunroof channel. These are notorious for getting clogged somewhere along their path. Run right beside your footwells and cause wet carpet. Search the list for good advice on checking this and fixing it. Good luck.

It was actually a heavy mist (the slowest wiper setting would take care of it), when I noticed the leak. I could wipe my finger across the bottom of what I would figure is the housing for the a/c equipment and it was wet . I will break out the garden hose tomorrow and try duplicating the situation, and look at the a/c drain.

Thanks for fielding that one, I could have been a little more obscure.

I searched "sunroof" as well as "drain" and did not find any associated fixes for this problem. If someone has cleared this drain can you please post your method. Can the entire line be removed for complete cleaning? Anyone try to snake this passage? Etc.....

I will be pulling the front roof rack mounts as well and applying some 3m marine sealant.

Wife is getting pretty mad about the smell and wet floor board every time it rains. I am probably going to pull the front seats and completely remove the carpet once I have fixed the leak. Mold is the #1 environmental risk these days and my kids already suffer from asthma.

To check and clear the sunroof drain holes:

Park on a slight decline and open the sunroof.

Pour some water in the channel and see if it drains out through the two holes in the front corners. Don't go crazy here, as you'll flood your interior and get water in the overhead console and light unit.

Check to make sure you have a strong flow out the bottom of the hose, behind each front wheel, beneath the running boards, in the frame channel. You'll see it. It should come out fast, not drip.

If clogged, run a stiff coated wire through each side. You should be able to run teh wire all the way through, although you won't be able to grab it out the bottom. Check the length from outside and make sure you can run that much wire through the tube.

Many times the drivers side tube gets "kinked" near your left foot, behind the foot well carpet. If this is the case, you can easily pull the carpet and plastic back off the side behind where the foot rest is located. I don't even think there are any screws to remove.

You will see a lot of stuff in there, mainly wiring and a large clear plastic tube. That's the drain tube. Make sure it has not been crushed by the wiring or kinked. Reach up as far as you can go to make sure it's not kinked. Pour more water up top and watch it pass this area. If it backs up, the kink is lower and you need to reach down and move it around to try and clear it.

Worked for me. Mine was kinked right near the opening behind the carpet. I put a hose clamp on it to keep it from getting kinked there again. Fine for over a year now and no more wet carpet in the rain!!

FJinVA thanks for the good instructional! I did not get a chance to do any checking on my problem. Where was your water dripping in the cab? If the drain is in the "A" post on the passenger side my water is traveling over to the left knee area. I am going to do the drain check and look at the a/c drain.
thanks again,
scott

I checked the sunroof drains and ran 2liters through each one and not a drip in the cab. Now for plan "B", the A/C line. Hopefully, it will be another paperclip style fix like the VW. Does the fsm list a technique for cleaning/unpugging (and could someone post it) or is it a figure it out style thing? Thanks to all !
