I noticed on the fj40 that i wasn't getting a full turn to the right. The left seems to be fine. When I jacked the front end up, the tires showed they weren't turning as much to the right as to the left. So I was wondering what would the effect of lengthening the drag link from the stock 85cm to 90 or 95 cm would be? I'm also kinda mystified why the fj40 drag link is adjustable when the pig draglink is set. I've done some searching but really haven't come up with anything.

Thanks for any insight.

I checked the bump stops and they aren't hitting. I just figured that changing the draglink length would do it. Thanks! ty

problem solved

After doing some more searching, I found a good post about the draglink:

https://forum.ih8mud.com/40-55-series-tech/113448-turns-more-left-after-mini-steering-install.html

I pulled the pitman arm and the drag link to discover what was causing the problem was that the aftermarket steering stabilizer was preventing a full right turn. In addition, the draglink/pitman arm clamp was hitting the minitruck ps box bracket and not allowing full rearward travel.

after some thought, i figured out that the drag link shouldn't need much adjustment if the position of the pitman arm (the steering box) is the same as the stock location. if you lengthen it, then it will accentuate left turn while reducing the right. If you shorten it, then it will reduce left turn while increasing right turning.

I suppose if the pitman arm wasn't centered on the steering box, then adjusting the draglink length would help, but it'd be better to center the pitman arm.

If I were to do this again, I'd probably go to a fj60 steering set up. The minitruck seems to be fine, even with 34" super swampers.

If I got it wrong, please correct me.

Thanks,
ty
