The transmission shifts in the same manner under WOT regardless of switch position.

Oh, that's why I never noticed that switch did anything...

I got it...... ;)

Repeated 0-50 drag race Friday. This time it was a dead heat.

Forget the 'drag' idea. Park both, and take one out at a time. Wouldn't that provide more control Doug?

PS: Hit the scales first if you haven't already, and then remove drivers floormat and go for it ..

Ty,

Nah. I drive them back to back all the time and my perception was that the 97 was way quicker, not just a little. The drag race side by side is the easiest and most accurate way to settle it in the absence of automatically tripped timing equipment, etc. Must be the smoothness factor - 97's throttle has less resistance and the tranny's smoother in many ways.

so who cares which is fastest as long as it feels that way..?

Well, the 93's getting a couple MPG less than the 97, so I was hoping I'd uncovered that the 93 had something that needed attention I could do to get a couple more MPG. No such luck. I suspect it's the newer electronics on the 97, plus its less aggressive stock Michelins.
