in the reader's rides of the new 4wheel drive & sport ute.

just got the copy, kinda kewl to be in the mag with the TLC Icon on the cover... they'll put just about anything in the readed's rides, they are "low" on submissions. : )

I've thought about posting a rally of 55 owners to flood the 4x mags with reader rides pics. But then the whole country would be clued in and everyone would have to have one, making them harder to get used parts for and such. Keeping them secret seems almost beneficial. But I dunno.

you have a good point there... but I think every once in a while it is OK to expose our treasures just to show they still exist. I wish that acknowledgement of 55's would result in more replacement parts (though there is some support which is excellent).

The last 55 I saw in a Readers Rides (I should say only) was in a Petersens, sometime in the mid 90's. A guy out of Phoenix. Tan with black tube bumpers, and supposedly had a 396, or a 383 stroker. I'd have to go dig it up to be specific.
Other than that, there are two other 55 sighting in the rags. One was in
4WD&SU, green and white SOA, running the Rubicon. The guy had a web-page linked up to Birfield.
The other one was in "worst stucks" Petersens again, a purple Pig stuck in a mud hole. Caption read, "Is that an FJ-55, or the world's biggest pond leach?"

Another 55 in a readers rides, this time Off-Road Adventures. Who's Ed McCullough? It's his, or was his. Cool looking pig, but whoever took the pic and sent it should be slapped!

was that the bobbed one with the caddy motor?

No it wasn't bobbed. But he had black rocker sliders looked like they were made out of 4" angle iron. Had a black front bumper with a common looking brush guard, black 15x8 rims with 35" BFG muds, really short roof-rack towards the rear. Let me see if I can find it.

there was a quick writeup on teh caddy'd 55 in one of the rags.

see if this link works. Pretty close to the same pic that's in the mag.
Still a sweet Pig.

I ought to scan the pic from the mag and post it. Weird how similar the pics are, just from different angles.
Anyone here NOT been on Birfield to check out Morgan's massive amount of pics?

I always liked that picture, I know how the driver felt when he was stepping that big pig down the steps:bounce: been there, felt that:D Morgan's site is a great resource, particularly the images of criusers. When I discovered it for myself I spent months in envy, lead me to get my 55 actually.
