Do you guys have a light behind the red cover on all doors?.If so can someone put up a pic because I want to fit a light behind mine.A part no would be great if they are compatable with Australian no's. Thanks

Do you mean the door jamb area or on the same side as the speakers.

Just above the pocket in the door trim.I thought it was a reflector until I took the trim off and relised it was a redlight cover without the light inside the door (I think). It is a 98 model and I assume later models have the same.

Yes, clear lights on the LX.

Mine are the same but red.The part I want is behind that white cover then I too can have door lights but red ones so I can open the doors faster or safely. Hoser what are the buttons on the top Right of the door?

Those buttons are for memory seats. Good for multiple drivers. I don't have the Toyota Part Number for the lights but I do know the MSRP is US$15.57 per side and it looks like the assembly includes clear lenses.

Thanks for your help.My vehicle is being recalled for the front brake rotorswhich can fall off next week so I might see if I can hunt some down.

We also have just a red reflector in South Africa but I also would like to change it to a light. I will keep on eye on this to see if there is a solution

Rear doors are exactly the same P/Ns.

That's the whole lamp, including lens & bulb. No # for the lightfitting alone, without lens.

hey aussie, is there wiring in place but no assembly? Or do you have to run some wiring?
keep us informed as i'd like to do that mod too if it's pretty straightforward.
cheers

Got the lights $35.00 per light.Easy fit .The wiring is insitu front and back. The back worked but the front does'nt.I can't work out why but I've realised that the glovebox and ashtray light does'nt work either and I don't know if they did before because I'm the second owner and my manaul is crap for wiring diagrams.I have power to light with the earth switched so the earth must go somewhere before ending up at the door switch,as to where I don't know.I have to fit a UHF and third battery plus other stuff before Fraser Island next week so it will be a while before I can work out the prob. The back lights are worth the $35 a side

The lights are clear. The red reflector comes out and the clear light unit go's in.Lets not tell anyone that the glovebox and ashtray only comes on with the parkers so nobody will know what a dumb statement I made.

I am thinking about these as an addition but aren't quite sure yet.
To save me pulling the door liner off and testing can someone tell me the following.
From what I read in the FSM, the door lights are controlled seperately by the Body ECU. It appears that they turn on no matter what, whenever a door is opened, even if the interior illumination switch is set to OFF (it appears that both front lamps are turned on for only one door open, and the same for the rear doors).
Could someone please confirm this.

This then means they (2 lamps minimum) may stay on for 30 minutes when you are stopped with the door open. I am not sure if I like this or not, but just want to be sure of how they work before deciding to buy.

Don't take the liner off.Take the red lense off by levering with screw driver look inside and there will be 2 wires with a plug taped up,open door use multimeter or equivalent and time the cycle.

I already popped a rear door lens a few days ago, but there were no loose wires hanging around, couldn't tell with a torch if they were taped up on the harness out of the way so I thought I would ask as I couldn't test without dropping the liner. I will try popping another lens in the next few days and see if I can find anything floating about.

Did you fix your front door lights?
What was the problem?

aussie, i PM'd you but got no response so here i go:
did you buy the lamps using the part no.s posted earlier by uHu or did you go to your local Toyota dealer and buy them direct?
And as per 100TD's post did you sort out the front door light issue?
i have some cash that's "burning a hole in my wallet" as they say
cheers

Yes. That's how they work. They come on no matter what.
