Hey guys. I've used the search and see that some people have experienced this, but I'm only experiencing it partially, hence the new thread. Here's the problem:

When I open a door, the dome lights in the back and middle of the truck light up, but the driver and passenger lights do not. However, if I turn them on manually by moving that rocker switch, they work fine. What could this be? I can't think the door sensor because it's activating the other interior lights.

Also, the "courtesy light" on the driver's door doesn't light up, though it does on the passenger side.

Lastly, a bunch of the buttons are not lit up. For example the left rear vent button is illuminated, but the right isn't. The diff lock button is not. None of the gear shift (PRND2L) are lit up by where the actual shifter is, though I don't know if they need to be.

Are all these symptoms indicative of the same problem, or just a bunch of different problems?

Thanks in advance

If you are talking about the two small lights at the sunroof switch, near the mirror, they are manual on/off only with the small rocker switches.

The door light may simply be a burned out bulb. The lens just pops off with a small thin blade screwdriver. If it’s not the bulb, you can check the wiring. Bulb #194 from your local auto parts store.

The bulbs in th switches and shifter are also burned out. You can replace all of the bulbs, you just have to figure out how to get to them and what you need. There are LED options you can buy online or you can go through your Toyota dealership and pay $8-$10 per bulb.

Here’s a thread to help get you started with the bulbs.

I am having the same issue with my driver side door light as well. I tested a new LED bulb and found that even with a new bulb it is still not working. Curious to know if you figured out the issue? I thought it was a fuse issue but came to learn that the fuse is for all the door lights, not just the drivers door.

It is difficult to attribute so many malfunctions to different sources such as multiple bulbs burning out at same time or having different inputs such as door switches not working for the corresponding door but working for the dome lights and the ignition light. The fact that any courtesy light works at all, pretty much rules out a relay failure.
You may want to look at your "Instrument ECU" as the source of ALL your problems with interior lighting.

Hate to revive an old thread-

All of my interior lights on my 2002 LC work using the switches, but none of them (other than lights in the doors) come on when I open the doors. What gives?

I could be remembering this incorrectly, but I think my 99 105 seems to have two circuits to the (two only) courtesy lights.

IIRC one is a permanently powered circuit to the manual switch, and the other circuit (other wire) is switched from the door switches. The door switch circuit passes through fuse 6 under the body control module.... which in my case was behind the kick panel on the left hand side of the vehicle (which for us is the passenger side).

I found this link very helpful when trying to diagnose my own interior lighting issues 1998-2007 Toyota Land Cruiser 100 Fuse Box Diagram - https://knigaproavto.ru/shemy/en/toyota/land-cruiser/580-1998-2007-toyota-land-cruiser-100-fuse-box-diagram.html#1

Now I think about it it makes sense that there's two circuits to each courtesy light as the manual switch switches the light either on or off, but the door activated switch passes through a more intelligent circuit and will gently dim the courtesy light after the door position has changed. I therefore assume door activated courtesy lights are controlled by the body control module, so have a look at that fuse #6 and then work your way either towards to lights or towards the BCM (depending on where you find current present)
