I asked Grok to share a few thoughts on the J250 owners:

He did the touchy touchy and looky looky in one of the vehicles, and came away with solid conclusions about both.

A buddy of mine has a Subaru Outback and also likes to tell me how nice and high-quality his interior is. I've been in it, and a 20 minute ride inside that thing made me recall rides in Soviet-era trolleybuses from my childhood. But hey, it works for him...
Hard to not feel a little smug from the lap of opulence that is Land Cruiser. I do like the OEM cassette tape offered in the 200 for my mix tapes I record at home on my boombox. Try that in your Subaru. Hippies!

Got to keep that #2 pencil handy to roll up dem cassettes.....

Technically would not have to be #2, but would need to be a wood pencil....

Building on the same:

4Runner < 4Runner TRD Pro < LC250 1958 < LC250 < GX550 < GX 550 Overtrail < 200 series < LX600 < LX700h
Maybe this Is something we can all agree On ahem... Toyotas Explained by a Bro-Scientist, I'll probably add the hybrid dinosuars later lol

I own three 200s, and love all of them. I had been considering trading one of them for the 250 just to have the new, shiny thing.

I am on a trip and was able to rent a 250 for a five day test drive. Here is the verdict .

Do not trade a 200 for a 250. It is not comparable. It feels like trading a tank for a bicycle. The engine is very underpowered and always sounds like it's struggling. The whole thing feels light and tinny. It feels like a big Corolla.

The lack of a tailgate means that if you go skiing, you have to sit on a dirty bumper to boot up rather than on a nice clean tailgate.

I am so glad I did not make the trade.
How are you this morning?

I have heard from the highest authority that the LC250 is a "Real Land Cruiser" because Toyota gave it 14mm wheel studs. :pompous:

Are you saying my FJ40s aren't real land cruisers? :( Totota will really slap that label on anything.

Come back when you are discerning enough to understand what we expect of modern day Land Cruisers.

Here's another testament of the new "Land Cruiser" that you think is a gift to us. From someone with no horse in the race:

Just rented a new base LC for a day and we were pretty disappointed. (Photo featuring pregnant wife puking)

Cons: -The interior felt cheap as hell (our $40k Rav4 Hybrid XSE feels like a Porsche comparatively). The stock finishes should be better for a $60k vehicle. -The engine is underpowered (felt slightly more powerful than the Rav4 hybrid, with the added weight). -Felt like a Suburban driving off-road, not a world class LC like every other LC ever -the damn lane following technology couldn’t be turned off (I clicked the button a few times) so it drove me into pedestrians and bikers a few times. -the visibility is horrendous. Blocky rearview mirror taking up 1/3 of the windshield and the hood flares block your road view.

Pros: -Looks kinda cool and commands the road

Not sure what all the hype is about.

EDIT: I was a little too harsh. I'm sure you're very discerning.

Are you familar with the essay by Nassim Taleb - Only the Rich are Poisoned: The Preferences of Others ? Might be worth a read.

(Also - I'm guessing you don't know that FJ40's have 12mm wheel studs and the joke went right over your head.)

We like the pic of the wife giving vent to her feelings.
