An LC250 1958 is exactly 1/2 the price of a new LX600. Sure, they slapped a Land Cruiser badge on there, but it's a frickin' bargain compared to a new LX600. A good fit for MANY consumers who want a capable (and hopefully) reliable SUV.
corollas used to be 1/5 price of my LS600h.

Corollas are bargains too

LC 250 hate post in the 200 series forum. pot calling the kettle black from an 80 series owner POV :flipoff2:
(all in good humor)

Exactly :D

And I keep my hate options wide open via multiple Land Cruisers in the driveway

I think the LC250 is an awesome trail machine, on Moab type trails it will literally do circles around a 200, stock to stock. I've been fortunate to spend a ton of time on and off-road in the LC250 over the past 14 months in a variety of terrains, desert/sand, Moab, east coast trails, etc. Neat little machines and they are selling well. From a LC community standpoint, we may have some shelf life afterall.

I think the GX550 is even better, better motor, trans and 9.5" locked rear axle. Obviously that comes at a cost but they are rad. I'd love to race one in the Baja 1000 stock-mid class.

For the record, I love 200's, own em, race em, drive em, have trusted them in crazy remote places around the world. But that doesn't make the LC250 disappointing to me. I celebrate what they are, not what I wish they would have been. I can assure you 45LV owners were disappointed by the 55, 55 owners disappointed by the 60 and I remember first person 60 owners hating on the 80 when they were sold new. Lest we forget the hate the 100 and 200 got for, well, ever by many Land Cruiser enthusiasts who generally claims the "LC died" with whatever came after theirs :D
I understand your point, but Toyota does not currently offer a follow-up to the 200 LC that really satiates what most of us 200 owners really like about our rigs.

If I wanted a fun light duty off roader, I would buy a 4Runner or a wrangler. Not a Land Cruiser. The 250 really is cannibalizing 4Runner sales, and we’ll see this trend where 6th gen 4Runner sales will be diminished.

The LX 600 is not the solution due to the horrendous approach and departure angles. That’s what’s so appealing about the 300, and really what should have followed up to the 200.

The Sequoia doesn’t cut it due to lacking a full time 4WD transfer case, longer wheelbase, and puzzling third row design.

If the LX 600 had a LC 300 body on it with an L badge, I would be all for it, but our only option is a LX 600 that has off-road underpinnings, but has a body design with the spindle grill which is counterintuitive to the purpose of the rig? What was Lexus thinking with that?

Looks awesome, but isn’t it around 20k for that front bumper? Why would Lexus not offer that from the factory in their off-road (overtrail) model?
Legal liability - to start.

That's a huge chunk of heavy metal that will cause serious damage to any person, animal, etc. I'm sure these bumpers are contrary to a dozen limitations that manufacturers have to abide by.

Local laws will vary, but manufacturers have to make vehicles that can be sold in as many markets as possible.

guess 300 series bunper costs more than my Lamborghini SVJ bumper?

its ok for 200 guys to spend 20k in mods

but if a 300 needs the same mods not to be a Highlander - lexus should have provided it?

you guys with all your hate are funny

as a 60,62, 100, and 200 owner - I would never buy a 80

ugliest LC ever and slow
I don't disagree. My comment is more so a joke on the "Toyota didn't build a REAL landcruiser after the 80 series" trope, because a solid axle apparently resolves one of all shortcomings. Plenty of 100s and 200s in the hands of NGOs in severe conditons. Seems "real landcruiser" to me.

But why do you dislike/hate that they think they are "big dogs"? Does it make you not a "big dog"? Dangerous to place self-worth on the opinions of others.

in the quote you quoted me I already told you I am a middle class loser

that would make me NOT a big dog

big dogs here have 16+ LC and HE badges

I am a loser with a 08 and halogens

you know those fat girls that hang with the hotties to get a piece?

i am that fat highlander sucking a new head gasket one at a time

I'm sure it does wonders for MPG. I bet it makes crash testing interesting too.

Here's the conclusion I've come to.
I could buy a new 250 1958, I've seen them marked down to ~$50k
Or I could buy a one owner cream puff 2016+ 200 for ~50k
