Welcome IOU.

Where the heck is Southington? This is the 1st time I've ever heard of it. Is it a large area? The only place, I've been at in NE Ohio was Wellsville. It was OK, but not worth the trip for me. I usually wheel in my backyard or KY & TN.

Garretsville Ohio... I've never been there. Muddonkey sorry I missed your post bud. My numbers in my sig call me sometime. You guys check my two threads on the builds im doing. Bumpers and racks for now with other items coming soon. Let me know when you guys wanna get together. Or I can try and organize something. Winters coming... although I love to winter wheeling too!!

There is a group of FJ guys that always seem to go to Southington. I hope to maybe get up there sometime in November...maybe whenever they go. I'll try and post up here if I hear of a ride. It is always nice to have a good group. Sounds like the place is HUGE and has a little of everything.

That is the one I am thinking about going to as well. Probably will if it is dry out!. Are you on the Facebook group too or is this just coincidence? lol. I came in here to post that up.

Southington was a success. I was kind of disappointed in the park compared to all the stuff I could run in NC, SC, and VA (spoiled a little I guess!). One cool thing was it is a lot of "fish tank" type pebbly sand so even after a solid rain all the day prior, it wasnt super soggy for us. There are a lot of trails through the woods that are just 2 mud ruts...I bet almost half the place is this sort of stuff. I avoided running those as I dont get any enjoyment out of mud lol. There are some 'sand dune' areas, which are just smaller hills, and a few many very steep climbs...I stayed off those too since it was the maiden voyage for my 4 month old...she loves wheeling though!. There is like ONE technical trail that we ran part of, and was a good bit of fun. Supposedly it gets pretty gnarly in other spots (I didnt see) and would not be easy to bail from, so I didnt go looking...I was leading a friend on his first outing at the time, and completely stock. With that said, I will probably go back only because it is in the state and I KNOW there is some stuff we had to have missed...the place is 1500 acres, but there are just trails and offshoots EVERYWHERE.

Bummed I missed it. Been look forward to going since I found the place... getting sick sucks. Glad you had a good time though. Post more pics if you got em.

Wasnt sure if it showed up. I just stole them off the Facebook page :)

These are what others took. There may be video later. I didnt take any. These are the only trail ones I can find - some steep hill..the rest are just us posing like the first one lol.

Looks good Adam... did you hear if their gonna be open again this year or was that it? BROWNS WON TOO as you probably know!! I watched football all day on the couch. My home team Pat's crushed Denver too ... twas a good day.

They are open year round I believe so there should be plenty of opportunities... They have this calendar on their site - http://www.southingtonoffroad.com/Events.html

EDIT: It looks like they only update it maybe a month in advance.

I just started looking for some places within 6 hours drive time or so that I can take a trip to visit for the weekend. Looks like anything from part of NY to Tennessee fits the criteria. Some wheeling would be cool, but honestly I'd love to find some places to take the truck and camp for the weekend. I'm a fan of primitive camping away from other folk, but still be able to drive to it and have the comforts of the truck, and any wheeling on the way is a bonus for me. Anyway, I know camping is out for the time being, but wanted to see if anyone knew of some cool places to get away for a weekend as I've described. I'm down for getting something on the books if anyone wants to make a trip.
