There is this inline thing on the red/white ACC wire leading to the ARB compressor relay. When tested, I get 12v before the "thing" and only 4-5 after it. Something is clearly wrong and must be why my compressor stopped working.

Is it a resistor of some sort? What's the purpose of it? I don't just want to bypass it (cut it out) if it serves a valuable purpose. The wiring diagram doesn't show it and I can't find any info online.

I emailed ARB, but would like to get this fixed by tomorrow.

Thanks!

No idea; my guess would be a resistor as well.

I don't get why there would be anything there in the first place. Relay is 12v, so no need for a resistor.

When you turn on the switch to start the compressor does the relay click? Is this the line from the battery/voltage feed to the relay, or the line that goes through the switch? It is possible that lower voltage is run through the switch to the relay to trigger the relay, then 12V passes through the relay from the battery to the compressor when it is closed.

i believe it is the flux capacitor....id leave it alone or you'll end up in 1945

1955...

right

i just went out into the garage, popped the hood and looked for that same wire. Either i don't have it or its buried. I have a relay and an inline fuse. those are the only wires i see with interruptions. no help i know

Apparently you inadvertently received a UN-issue LC part, as that wire is reserved for self-destruct. Do NOT cut the RED WIRE like this dude...

But DO grab the cat if you do... ;)
