Does anyone know if a US key can be programmed for an Australian LX470?

Hi, I am wanting to order another master key (with lock/unlock buttons) for my Australian LX470. The only keys I can find online are out of the USA (Lexus dealer in Western Australia charge $650 for a new key). Does anyone know if a US key can be programmed to be compatible with an Australian LX?
I have the original master key. I will get the key cut once it arrives.
Thanks

Stew

Yes. You can even send the code to the US to get it cut there.

Cheers,
Andrew.

Nice one, thought it might be the case, just thought I would check. Have you done this before? If so, who did you order through?
Thanks

One thing to remember: you have to use the key upside down.....

I was surprised that my 2002 model came with two master keys and the valet key.

I believe the key length changes at 2002.
This guy is selling the 98 keys for $85 out of Hong Kong:

Pretty cheap so might be worth a try. I did try the dealer here in Perth, they want $650 for the new key.

Yes there are several different blade lengths ranging from 36 to 42mm IIRC, the last 3 button shell/blanks I purchased off eBay ($13 for 2) had a shorter blade than advertised, about 1mm shorter. Ultimately didn't matter because after trying several "car key cutting" locksmiths none would or could cut the LX profile ( I didn't call the $100+ "we come to you " guys ) and the local dealer, one of the largest Lexus dealers on the US east coast, wouldn't cut a non OEM key - claimed that aftermarket eBay keys had damaged their machine previously. BS i think, but they were adamant. So OEM 3 button blank it was, $45 cut to VIN. If you go the non OEM key route it might be worthwhile confirming you can get it cut in advance.
