I am about to buy some Toyo Open Country MT's...can anyone advise as to their noise and driveability on the street?

I think David Dearborn (Urban Landcruisers in Atlanta) got a bunch for his 60's for GSMTR...

His screen name is dd113--drop him a PM; I'm sure he'll give you an idea about their street-worthiness.

Best.

This won't be much help but a guy I know just put them on his FJ40. He loves them and was saying how quiet there were. Of course quiet on a 40 may not be the same as being quiet on an 80.

I have the Toyo Open Country AT's (from PO) and I love them! Very quiet and great ride. MT's would hopefully retain some of the same quality and ride. Good luck...

Steve, I wish I had gotten these instead of MTR's, but when I couldn't find them in 315/75/16 at the time. I've read several test on them and they alway's rave about how quiet they are and how well they rode on the street. I've read of one guy here on this site that has them, and I thought it was on an 80 series.

thanks guys..I have been waiting on the 100 series guy that ordered them in....so far I have seen no posts about him recieving them yet....they look damn cool. I'll check in with the 60 series folks.

I am running a set on my LX and love them. They are quiet and run very smooth.

How many miles on 'em? My GY MTRs were quiet and rode well when. After nearly 40k mi, they still ride well, but aren't quiet anymore.

Here are some pics.(I hope)

They were about 950.00 mounted and balanced from Les Shwabs. I have about 6k on them now. There are a lot of people running them on lifted full size trucks around here. The only set that has worn out yet around here were on a 1ton deisel crew cab dodge. He got 30k but I dont think he rotated them very often, they were cupped very badly.

MADDEN72 - Dam good looking tire and LX!

According to Toyo web site the tires run true to stated size. A 37 X 13.5 X 17 measures 37.1 inches tall = very cool. Did you find that true with your 315’s?

Also do they have rim protection bead for the bling rims like BFG?

I think so. I am not used to a metric tire but I know they look about 1.5" taller then my brothers 35" bfg m/ts on his chevy. His are on 10" wheels though.

Yes they do have a rim protection ring.

You may need to wait.

Called today to get a price on a set of 35x12.5x17 M/T's and was told they are on national back order. The 3rd set of tires I have looked at that are on back order

I had to wait about 3 weeks for mine. Les Shwabs gave me some loners though.

I run the 315 75/16's on my 80 and love them. They are quieter then the BFG MT's I have run, and from what I have heard, wear great.
I will get some pics as well, soon.
BTW, if anyone is looking for a set, I have another complete set, brand new never mounted for sale.
Shoot me a PM or email
Russ
