I sorta figured I'd move it over. No way I'd pops do that.... even I had to hand-cuff him to the steering wheel.. I can manage a Dana rear axle purdy easy.

Done :D

JP, check criagslist..... there's got to be a few D60's or D70's between Brownsville & Houston. If you find one up this way let me know I can pick up for you if need be.

For planning purposes, it looks like pops and I meetin' in Texarkana to the 30 or 31.

I'd like to offer up my place if Pops needs a place to rest and a good meal. I ain't far away and we'd be glad to see him!

Like I said, this here plan is my last resource.

I'll check tomorrow w/ my friend about the 89 axel, which I am pretty sure we can make it work.

As far as the D60 I was referring to a front one not a rear one.

..and I know Mike said he has one. At this point I am more concern about the D70 on the dodge then the D60 front for my cruiser.

I'll keep you all post it on this matter.

Well I went and got the 89 axel out my friend's dodge. It seems like it's going to work, and there's no need to be hauling anything. Thanks anyway!

The 89 axel is not a D70. It's a D60 out of a dodge 3/4 ton. it was a government truck.

I was kind of disappointed once we were comparing the Axels.:meh:

The D70 is huge compare to the 60.

I have been doing some research on the comparison of these axels and it seems like the housing is the major difference. I was hoping it was the same but not a chance.

I could move that axel by myself. I remember when I did the 14 bolt under my 40, that MO-FO is f'cking heavy Prolly like the D70.

I am kind of glad I am not doing this job at my house. it's going to be quite a task taking off the D70 and drgging it out from it's location.:grinpimp:

well, the dodge is up and running again!

The 89 axel fit under my truck just fine. it's a dana 60 w/ the same gears, 3.54, lucky me. :hillbilly:

I don't know if it's a plus but it has a locker, it runs Ok so far!:bounce::bounce2:

it took a while but the dodge is business again.

Now I have to start looking for an HD clutch.

It does not slip and it shifts fine but last trip that Loui and I did we did smell a couple of times like the clutch was burning.

the clutch is kind of hi so I don't want to take any risk next time I haul a load.

Domek,

Are you sure you need a HD clutch? Just how many HPs are you running behind the Cummins?

If you're running stock power, I think a stock organic clutch and flywheel grinding will take care of your needs.

I have a South Bend clutch (South Bend Clutch - High Performance clutches, Ford Power Stroke & Dodge Ram Truck clutch kits, feramic and ceramic disks, Kevlar pilot bearings, and heavy duty clutches for passenger/racing cars, agricultural and midsize trucks.) in my Dodge. The clutch pedal is stiffer than stock and will hold plenty of power. My truck is not stock.
