Hey, I have been wanting a snorkel for my GX for a while but didn't want to spend the money for a Safari again. I came across the Dobinsons snorkel and the price was right and their warehouse is in Miami so I drove down there and got one.

First impression- Looks like a Safari Snorkel... So, I figured it would be a easy install so I went for it (even though it didn't come with directions). I installed a safari on my LX so I have a little experience with this.

Luckily some time has passed so my frustrations won't come out as much- I spent at least 2 hours trying to get the snorkel to sit flush against the fender with the inner plastic tube in place. Finally realized that the snorkel wasn't trimmed properly so it was impossible for them to fit. I had to trim about an inch and a half off of the snorkel outlet. There was a line that I followed when cutting (I assume that is where the Chinaman was supposed to cut when he took it out of the mold). After that, it fit. The provided rivets were too long to use in the pillar for the upper bracket. Luckily, I had some different ones that I could use. I started off thinking that I would take pictures of the install. Honestly, I was in no mood once I ran into the problems.

My opinion: It's as if they sent a Safari to China to copy, but no car to try it out on. They made a copy and said "looks lite it would fit" and sent it out. Now that it's on and time has passed, I'm happy with it. If I would have wrote this within the first month of the install, I'd probably have a different opinion.

I ran into the same issue on my first GX, its because the snorkel is designed for the Prado and not the GX specifically. The GX has additional bracing in the fender so it will cause it to stick out. I had to trim that 1 inch and a half off the snorkel as well when installing mine.
