I did the same set up, so far it's been great on the road. My lift is just under 2" comfort set up. We're headed up to Tahoe right during a snow storm this Wed so my set up should be really tested. Shout out to Miyaki Motorsports who I finally decided on to do all the work. I've never worked with a more honest and capable shop. Simply outstanding. It's such a great feeling when you find any place thats honest, takes pride and has passion for they do and has fair prices. I'll be using them for everything in the future, cannot recommend them enough.

My ride is identical in color and wheels. Also considering going with Dobinsons 2" lift and having Miyaki Motorsports do the install. Since I am from the same area. Can you recommend where you purchased the suspension and how is it doing after a year of driving?

No, and I don't believe there would be if you keep it 2.5" or under. Here's how it looks with the FN Wheels Six Shooter in Graphite Gunmetal with Falken AT3 265/70/17 P-metric. The appearance change from stock wheels to these was dramatic, but the iPhone camera widens things out a bit and does not look as nice as the real thing.

What offset did you go with on these wheels?

I have the IMS 2” front and 1.75” rear coils. Not comfort valved. 285/70r17 Toyo AT c rated on titanium Method 313 0 offset. Lift was garage installed.

Tire outside edge aligns with upper fender well. Had to do a lot of liner trimming. No BMC.

It rides nice and smooth. Off-road performance has been excellent too.

I need to get a better alignment Bc the first guys couldn’t understand how to max out the LCA for caster. But I didn’t do UCA and think if you get a competent alignment person you’ll be ok without.

Which sliders and what roof rack is this? Looks amazing!

Words I never thought I would read on IH8MUD but here we are.
Boy you dug deep to find that one! We did find and are in a 4x4 club and they're a great bunch of guys and gals. Our friends that we used to go with just didn't get out any longer for various reason, e.g. no time, vehicles need work, just married, new kids, and the list goes on.
Now we get out about every other month!

Hi all new here, I'm also shopping for a lift kit, wheels, and tires and I saw this rig on Reddit (not mine), claims to have a 2inch lift but with 285s also on 17s.

OP's post says that he also has a 2" lift, to my untrained eyes and perhaps the angle of the photos, his lift seems higher than 2" compared to the photo below?

My point is does the 285s fill the wheel well that much better?

It may be just the camera angles. But there is an awful lot of plastic cladding on these vehicles. Here is mine:

285/(aspect ratio??)R17. What's the aspect ratio?
It matters if they are:
  • 285/70R17: 32.7" O.D.
  • 285/75R17: 33.8" O.D.
