Do you think Toyota will discontinue LC in the US like they did in UK

I wonder how much fixed cost is associated with importing and offering a car model in the US (paperwork, marketing, etc). If they only make a couple grand on each one and sell 1500/year, do you seem them ever throwing in the towel and pushing everyone toward LX in the next 5-10 years

.... If they only make a couple grand on each one...

WHAT are you talking about? Why on earth do you think "they" make only a couple grand?! Where the heck do you think the other $70,000 goes?

Even if they made the full $70 grand in profit, he has a point. In the overall scheme of Toyota profit, the US market for LC's is a grain of sand on the beach.

It certainly isn't profit directly coming from the LC that keeps them selling in the US... i think it's more about being able to say they do, and the negative press and ultimately impact to profit across all Toyota lines if they did stop selling them.

The land cruiser is the only name plate in toyotas line up that has been sold continuously in the U.S. since Toyota started doing business here. It's a nostalgic model for Toyota in the U.S. They sell all they bring in. I'm sure profit margins are pretty high on the land cruiser. Toyota sells so many cruisers in the Middle East and Australia that they can allow the cruiser to remain in the U.S. Market as a heritage nostalgia nameplate. The grand daddy of all the other SUVs they market.

Toyota averages $2700 profit on each car sold; thats across the line-up, LC probably a little higher, Corolla lower. article

Several LC industry reps and collectors were able to sit down with the Land Cruiser chief engineer, US LC market lead and truck/SUV market lead at CruiserFest last month. They have no intention to discontinue the LC in the US. On the same hand, they have no intention to bring the LC7x or a stripped LC200 to the US anytime soon.
