I'd love to, but i think it's a little far for me and slightly out of my budget.

Mine too. That's why I have two and possibly three passengers pitching in on gas and lodging. $650 or so in fuel alone down and back. It's a fun event though, very much looking forward to it.

I haven't sent in my GSMTR packet yet either. Are there no perks to this Trails job..?!

I would mount underbelly speakers .. record the hum , and then take that waveform and just invert it 180° .. and play it back .. it should approximate a cancelling out effect . :D

TY - Good scientist , bad technician

it's interesting when you think in terms of $$ fuel cost for a rig like ours, how cheap airfares can be...

Agreed. Lone Star paid for Tony and I to be at the event last year. Bought my gas from NC to TX and back, bought Tony a plane ticket. Guess which one was less expensive?

Hard for me to wheel my rig if I don't have it with me, though.

It's back.... :D

OK, checked all this out this morning:

"Tod, check piece that goes against the frame on the 2nd leg on the PS side.
It is possible that it is touching the exhaust. It get's pretty close with a
stock exhaust. Have not hear anyone else complain about this. Only other
item is on the DS front floorboard, the bracket can get close and sometimes
touch the floorboard when the truck flexes.

Also check the pinch weld on the PS front. If the slider is to high, then it
can touch and make a noise.

Christo"

Nothing touching, not even really very close.

I'm learning to live with the vibration/noise by thinking back to the days when I had my 55 and conversation at highway speed was not possible.

My 97 came with Slee sliders, an OME lift and an occasional vibration at no particular speed when I purchased it (although usually at 45mph or over and if I speed up or down a little it stops). My hunting buddy/Toyota service manager (who has been in the truck when it vibrates) now tells me it is caused by the bearing at the front of the rear drive shaft due to the angle caused by the lift and that it is common with lifted Cruisers. When I got new tires there was no change in the ‘vibes.

An inspection just now of the right side slider reveals that where the slider is notched to clear the Cat there is only about 1/8” clearance. I think I will grind the notch to get a little more clearance and see what happens. Although I am used to the vibration at this point if an easy fix is available I’ll take it.

I ground mine out in that area to about .5" clearance. Bzzzzzzzzzzzz........

Hmm, at times it sounds like some are describing different things. I thought we'd clarified that there's a difference between vibrations from the sliders touching things (not what I thought we were chasing down), and vibrations that are actually a shimmy in the vehicle caused by the sliders jiggling or wobbling and being felt by the driver (what I thought we were chasing down).

Clearly, if you have the former situation it's a simple matter of correcting a metal to metal interference. Lay under there with some tan paint and shoot the spots you suspect. Then look later to see if/where the paint is rubbed off. Tan paint so it won't be unsightly.

when i first put my sliders on, i had no noise. after a few months is when it started. although i wasn't touching the cats, when the sliders were put on they were pushing up on the heat shield.

This seems to be the problem I am having I posted in another thread. Any results on grinding and increasing the clearance?

Cats get VERY VERY hot! I seared my knee once by pumping into one for a mere split second....

Hurting yourself after pumping into a hot cat- Ary this is something I would probably keep to myself. ;)

(Sorry, couldn't resist!)

Worked well for me.
