I'm planning a trip to CA soon. Has anyone ever brought their handgun in the car across state lines and how do you do it? I'm an NRA member and well aware of the laws, just wondering what the real world is like.

I always have my handgun with me, pretty much everywhere I go. The Communist Republic of Kalifornia not excluded.

Kalifornia

What could possibly go wrong, it's only a law right?

Well, so long as it has a less than 10 capacity, and you don't have it in ready access, not sure what other draconian laws apply. I'll have to go look at my travellers guide for details - will post this afternoon if nobody beats me to it.

I don't use my turn signals to indicate a lane change either.

No high-cap mags (over 10 rounds)

Unloaded in a locked case inaccessible to the driver

NO RECOPROCITY TO ANY STATES' CONCEALED CARRY LAWS

CA gets to have it both ways in their laws or the enforcement thereof...

I prefer not to travel to Kalifornia anyway. There's nothing there worth seeing or doing that can't be done better somewhere else.

Mine goes with me everywhere I go. We travel to San Diego frequently and take it every time. I do this at risk of course, to each his own.

shot alot of matches in CA -Gun in case or locked case is better can't have ammo in it or in the case- ammo in different container -not in the drivers reach/. Back of the SUV as long as no one is sitting their

You can bring a gun from the communist state of CA to AZ, no problem. I've taken my gun to Cal and not followed the rules. It's a risk but...

I carry everywhere outside of Tucson, except CA. Of course I haven't been there in 5 years and don't plan on going anytime soon.

And Bman, use your fxxxing turn signals douche. I hate that s***. :flipoff2:

Every time I go to CA see my ICE buddy I bring my handgun because they have a cool range out there that has metal targets and alot of other cool stuff to shoot at. I keep it in the case, unloaded and the ammo is stored in a separate shooting bag.

AMEN Brother, take the tax dollars to a state that deserves it. In all 48 you can carry as long as the handgun is in a locking case (soft or hard), its when you get to certain cities that you will have an issue. Don't ask how I know, but the cities with anti hand gun laws take it very seriously, talk about guilty till proven innocent, and they won't give it back no matter what. When I used to drive to IL. I had to leave mine @ my parents house when I went to Chicago.

Ocean beaches are hard to beat. Every once in a while my wife and I need to get our toes in the sand, swim in the ocean and soak up some 72 degree summer sun. Hard to do those things in AZ.

Hmm, I could use some of that

Do we get a CSC member discount at the shop on this? Or is there an SST version for my specific year and color of LC? :)

i do a couple things differently when taking my hand gun to
California. i like to pull my pants down real low, hold the gun
sideways (with the grip parallel to the ground) and refer to it
as a my "gat"....

...but i'm gansta like that.
