Confession time. Tho I been hanging out here for a while, I've done jack on my own cruiser. The last time I wrenched was on an MGA almost 30 years ago. So, I'm a total newbie, and I'm gonna need a lot of help.
Here's the kicker: I bought my truck with the plan to convert it to diesel. So it's now running a 12-HT courtesy of Cruiser Solutions. Of course, that doesn't make it "new". I've got some breaking in & troubleshooting to do. And nothing in the FSM looks exactly like what it looks like under my hood.
1st post was the roof rack/rain gutter: I need to do fresh sealant. That's easy.
The 2nd issue should also be pretty easy. One of my power steering lines sprang a leak. Now I have some home made rust coating down the passenger side engine compartment. I found the source of the leak, and I have 2 questions:
1. Am I going to screw up any parts if I drive without ATF in the PS system?
2. I'm using the FJ-60 manual downloaded from here. Is there another FSM that's more detailed? I can't identify the exact configuration of the hose that's leaking, and I'd rather have the new hose in hand when I take off the old one.
Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated!
