Scotty,

It's a hard market out there right now. Your vehicle is unique enough that you may be able to move it in a relatively short amount of time. Both of my Cruisers have been advertised for quite some time now and I've had nothing promising. ALOT of dreamers and LOWball offers but nothing even close to the neighborhood I need to be in. I had a kid offer me $6k and a Honda for the 40 which is the closest thing I've had to a real offer. The 60 has brought only one "real" offer and it was so low that I almost shat when I read it. I wish I could own your rig, but unfortunately it's just not feasable for me at this time. I wish you luck in your sale and I know it's a hard decision to make as I've struggled with my decision regardiong both trucks all along the way.

And therein's the rub: is it even worth it doing this? I'm not 100% anyway on selling, but I can only imagine the "I'll give your $4k" kind of offers like the $100 total offer I just got for my 5 brand new Toyo AT 295s

I also have my 80 too and it's the same question, everything goes for so little $ now.

You've got some nice trucks for sale and this market just isn't moving? It's sad too because hopefully as things turn around and inflation sets in these will look like amazing deals.

Funny, you say that, cuz $4k is exactly the offer I got for a truck I'm asking $14k for... Not even the right area code.

If you are set on letting the Troopy go I would go with EBay.
Why...
1> Less want-a-b's
2> A much larger market
3> Less time invested-no waiting for someone never to show up and then offers you -$ or just needs to sell his Pinto first:mad:
4> If it does not sell its minimal to relist

Your Troopy unlike all of our junk is unique and you just need to find the buyer and it will bring a fair price and possible more.

Off to law school I go and I've got 3 cruisers!!! I'll :bang: in a few years I'm sure of it. It's my quintessential vehicle albeit no AC (but weather's changing :))

Should I hang on or brave the nonexistent seller's market?

Sell the 80 instead?
I have never seen your troopy please post a picture or 10 I think they are really neato.!!!!

I don't know what you are trying to get out of the Troopy, but the guy that was running the Spillway camp ground at Woods Canyon lake offered me 15K for mine. Of course I turned him down. I think as it was said the Troopy is unique and those who want them without the import hassle are willing to pony up the bucks. I know I was.

That's big news!! Congrats. I sold my 40 when I went to dental school...still miss it. Why did you make the decision to go back? I had a guy in my dental school class that sold his successful building company to go back to school and for him that was all the prereques as well. Looks like genius now :grinpimp:

Well, that's the PLAN right now with a little assistance from the company for whom I work. That doesn't mean however that I still have the majority of my work responsibilities and accountabilities! We'll see how this plays out. I'm just going to be able to do software contracts, as I don't have the patience, smarts, and memory of any attorney I know.

How much rust does it have?

Scotty,

Isn't your Troopy Andrew's old truck?

And look, you post up about it in the club board and you're already getting questions from outside the state. "IF" you decided to sell, I'd venture to guess that it would go rather quickly.

Scott, Unfortunately all things Landcruiser have had their arc... past and future generations are thinking differently now.

Education is priceless, vehicles replaceable - once you become a lawyer you can purchase all of these again easily. I agree with Phil, Ebay with your reserve will let you know the market in less than 7 days.

Don't you need an M101 for your troopy?

Ebay will get you maximum exposure for sure. I sold my '71 442 a few years ago on the bay and got way over what my asking price would have been. The guy was from Wisconsin and even though the car looked bad with the paint faded, vinyl top sun burned off, and the interior in a similar sun damaged condition from sitting in an Arizona back yard for too many years, it ran great and I had been all through the engine and drive train. He wanted a rust free car and he got it.
