I dont want to put either back on because they are so rusted...

the dust shield is flimsy and useless so its not going back on....but do i need to keep the part it bults up to as a spacer?

and for the second one do i need that as well? (cant remeber the name) but it dint come in the re-build kit and its super flaky and rusted to hell? can i x that as well?

The spacer on the dust shield acts as a brake caliper spacer if I remember correctly, keep at least the spacer part.

Take a wire wheel to the other piece and clean it up. Yes keep it too.

Isn't the other part the outermost seal for the inner wheel bearing (there is one on the hub as well)?

it should have come in the kit...only reason i know i every single one is a bitch to get the hub into since they aren't stretched out like the old ones.

Geeez Al,

Wish i knew ya need the 'smaller' disk,,,,got sumodem too . . .

kuda brought'em to the
Annual :-)

I reassembled some fj 60 brakes on to my 72 fj40 housing and I left those out they both mount outside of the spindle and are not manditory for caliper spacing My kit came with the new hub seal but I didnt use them . works fine however I did remove and 1/8 inch off the threads on each bolt to be sure that they dont bottom out in the knuckle!

for me it worked out fine

It seems like the big shield is there to keep the inside of the rotor clean and protected it offroading from something making contact with the rotor.

the shield is gone gone gone.....it was so rusted that even if somthing did whack it, it would more or less just bend into it and make it much worse...

Just to be sure I would pull the calipers and see if the inside pads are wearing faster than the outside.

FYI The holes in the knuckle house go all the way through- don't have to shave the bolts. :D
