The PO made this bumper that I have on my rig. I just got a XRC 10 winch to put on it. My question is do I NEED a fairlead on this bumper. The PO had a warn on it before with out one. I was just thinking of running the line between the front lower cross bar. The fairlead that came with the winch is a very large roller one that i'm not sure where I would mount it anyway.

Yes, you will need a fairlead to run the winch on that bumper if your XRC 10 comes with wire rope. The roller fairlead job is to make the wire rope glides smoothly back to the winch's hub when engaged extracting your rig out of nasty situation. Also to prevent chaffing/kinking the wire rope.
you can use a HAWSE instead of a fairlead but you really should use one or the other to protect the winch if pulling at even a slight angle to one side.
you could go with out if you ran the wire rope through the tube opening, you might damage something on a hard angle pull. if you ran syn rope it would prolly be eaiser on the steel tube , just make sure it has a smooth path.

Well i'm going to have to play around with it a bit this weekend. If I mount the roller behind the opening it might still touch the cross bars, might. I'll have to do some testing. A HAWSE is something I was also considering but would look kind of goofy. I'll have to see.
