cool... where are you in MD Blue77? Do you belong to any clubs? I'd like to meet up w/ some cruiser folks this spring and go to R. creek and gore this year.

The only difference between the Vulva pump and a GM pump of the same vintage is that the Vulva pump is stamped "M" for metric. The only thing metric about it is the bolt threads. Shaft and internals are the same as the GM. The "cad plated thing" on the back of the pump in my pic is a bracket off of the Volvo pump. It does stiffen the pump mount considerably and spaces it away from Bill's mount by 3/8"? maybe. Just enough to align it perfectly with the other pulleys. You still need Bill's tensioner bracket on the front, of course. The hub and pulley on my setup are from a dead Volvo pump and the pump is from a mid 80s GM truck. I picked it up from O'Reilly's and traded the dead Volvo pump for the $10 core charge.

Hope this clears things up.

I like you're idea about using the stud. Sure beats trying line up a bolt from the back side and balancing 6 washers on it at the same time.

The cad plated bracket eliminates the "stack O' washers";)

Ken, you know me, you were interested in my Warn 9500ti. You were at Coal Miner in '06 I think, at that attrocious campground. We also met at one of the swap meets that was at NOVA. I'm with CLCC and located in Rockville.

Degnol, thanks for the input. I like the idea of that Volvo bracket and will keep a lookout for one. Not sure if it won't push my pump too far forward though, as I have only a thin washer on it now to align with my sheave/bushing setup. I was wondering if anyone else uses a stick/rod between block and pump body (along strong seam) to pull the pump outward to tighten the belt with Dorry's bracket?

Although I didn't like the headbolt held bracket, I did like that it could be tightened with that one bolt. I could never get my pulleys lined up with that arrangement and went to Dorry's setup for the perfect pulley alignment.

I agree with you Blue on the headbolt mount. I think they are ok when installed during a head gasket swap but I've got reservations about pulling headbolts for such a bracket. I too like the idea of an adjusting bolt arrangement. I've been scouring the boneyards lately looking for adjustment brackets for my 4runner as I can rarely get it adjusted easily and keep it there, the belt stretches a little and I'm back in there with a crowbar and fighting it again. If I can find such an animal to help adjustments I'll post it.

If anyone wants a diagram of these "vulva" brackets let me know and I'll trace and draw something up!!!

Thanks to all who have taken the time to help me and give their 2 cents, I look forward to checking out this site daily and getting my share of truck porn and geartalk.
