Do I Grease Starter Gear?

I'm just about to put my starter back after replacing contacts. i was going to put some grease on the gear before I slid it in but I notice it was dry and clean when i pulled it out so I'm not sure what to do.

Do I grease the starter gear?

If your refering to the gear sticking out of the front, no it goes in dry.
