Looking at the Smokies every day.
So Google, mud, and ExPo search have returned nothing...

are there any Lexus 200 owners that actually have front and rear lockers?

I'm thinking of doing it with Harrop lockers, but I can't find any evidence of anyone actually doing it with a Lexus. I know diff wise it'll work, I'm just curious where to put the switches????

You are right, they fit just fine. Can't help with switches, but there are a lot of 200s that have been wired in a range of ways.

We are here if/when you need us. Who will you use for your install?

Thanks!

Thanks for the quick reply (even though it doesn't answer my switch question!!!!). I'll be ordering from you guys, full brake kit included.

Me and my buddy will be doing the install in his shop. Can you give some more info on the "range of ways" that 200's have been wired for switches.

A sticky on 200 lockers would be nice...

Yeah, I am quick but not very helpful!

The reason I ask is that the front carrier on the 200s are a real PIA, not for the first timer. I will ask my partner @orangefj45 for input on the switches.

Also, our website is getting updated and we will work up some additional content on installs/tech, cross-linked to MUD. Good idea!

There are 3 common options for locker switches in the 200:

1.) Use the old style rotary diff locker (84725-60020 OEM Locker Switch). This is probably the best interface but there's not a good location to mount this switch in the 200. You can either cut a new hole in the plastic for it or have a custom mount fabricated. I think someone here had a custom piece made for the switch panel to the right side of the steering wheel?

2.) I think there are some independent switches that come with the Harrops? You could wire those into the existing switch blanks but the sizing is a bit odd (as with the ARB switches). Lots of folks use the Air On Board switches (12 Volt 3amp ON-OFF Toyota OEM Replacement Push Switch with LED blue lights -Air On Board). I originally used those and they work really well, but I'd recommend a safety switch elsewhere to turn on power to your lockers as I've found it's easy to accidentally bump these switches and have had two instances where I've gotten the vehicle back from the dealer with the lockers on.

3.) An aftermarket switch interface such as one of the variations of the sPOD, Switchpro, or ARB Linx (not released yet). I had the Air On Board switches I mentioned above at first but now have the sPOD and love it.

You can find photos of 2 and 3 in my build thread. You should hear out Ward on the front locker install and also talk to them about the rear especially if you have a 2016+ LC/LX.

Isn't the dash of the Cruiser and 570 pretty different?

There aren't many places to elegantly put it in the LX, so I'd suggest going the @sleeoffroad route and using a SwitchPros panel in the ashtray which is the best looking solution I've seen:

The switch panel to the right of the steering wheel is basically the same between the 2016 LC that we own and the 2018 LX that we recently test drove before deciding on the GX.

Either way, I'm in agreement with @mcgaskins that a switch panel a la SwitchPro/sPOD is best. Especially for lockers since you have the freedom to put the panel somewhere safe.

Yes! The ashtray was the only spot I could think to put the switches. I had no clue a custom solution already existed for that.

@slee did this on my LC - uses the old school rotary switch plus a switch for the compressor, they have them 3d Printed....looks utterly stock.

Not sure they list it on their website but Ben was awesome enough to find time to do it and get it working while squeezing my rear bumper install in.....

BTW - Not sure, but Christo may hae done lockers in his LX..... others local to him may know more.

The 200's with factory rear lockers use the 100 series rotary switch. If and when I install lockers I will use the same switch and panel to keep everything looking factory..

So I see nothing but Cruisers here. The 570 dash is different....So indeed there is no way of putting switches except in the ash tray then?

Discovered something today. My 2011 VDJ200 is pre-wired for the diff lock switch! So I got the diff lock switch from my 80 and plugged it in. Rear diff lock light on the cluster started blinking. It's going to be really easy wiring a Harrop diff locker in!

RE: LX locker button/toggle placement. Don't you have some sort of cubby to the left of the steering wheel on the middle section of the dash? Would that not also offer an option similar to the ashtray placement? I think it would be even easier to access and wire than the ash tray.

This is exactly what I thought because I’ve seen it be used for some aftermarket switches to disable the abs, trac, etc.

@grinchy has some switches mounted up in that cubby spot. I wired my switches up to the left of the steering column. LX570 dash is pretty crowded. I wish the "magic dial" placement to the right of the steering wheel would work for an LX, but there are already 4 buttons there, no room for the dial.
