We're hosting another Wrench Day Saturday April 3rd @ 11:30am at Drew's new Rustic Mtn Overland shop in Irondale. Please PM me for the address.

Feel free to bring any projects, mods, PM stuff you need to work on.

We usually fire up the grill and cook some burgers/dogs for lunch, so please bring your own food and BYOB.

Do we need to start a list of what people need done? i.e., maintenance, suspension, drivetrain work etc? That way we could knock them out one after another.

So I don’t post much in the group and I haven’t been to a meeting in years. I live in alabaster and work in irondale. I’ve got all the stuff to do my oil pump cover gasket fix (I think). I don’t have a torque wrench that goes high enough or a tool to hold the crank pulley to remove the bolt.

I’d gladly bring hot dogs and buns for lunch for some help with the cover. Is it even a project that can be done in a day? I’m pretty good at wrenching on things as well. Breaking off oil cover screws kinda scares me though.

I've got to do my oil pump cover gasket as well. I've never done one before. My torque wrench only goes up to 200ft/lbs, but let me look into the DIY threads and see what it looks like.

I’d have to find the site but a guy makes a tool to hold the crank pulley. But the tool is like $80.
I know I have new cover screws. The o ring and a new front main seal. Anything else that needed for the job?

I may cruise on up and do some random small PM to come hang (got some family friends in the area). I'll let you guys know since I can bring all you need for the oil pump cover (big torque torque wrench, the OTRAMM tool, crank bolt socket, etc). I did this about 5 months and had the worst luck with it every step of the way. All the tools/easy outs were used.

That would be awesome!! Let us know if you can make it

Does it sound reasonable to get the entire oil pump cover job done in a day?

That is all entirely down to how smooth it goes. The removal of the belts, fan shroud and such was cake. I ran into issues with my harmonic balancer basically being stuck on the shaft (3 hours later), then I could only get 4 of the cover screws off (last 3 were already stripped it seemed from someone else attempting it). Drilled the heads off, cover off then trying to remove the remaining part of the screw bits was a pain. Most people could take a pair of pliers and simply rotate them out. It took me using a 90 degree drill, 1/8 inch drill bit for pilot hole and then some ez outs to finally get them out. Also put a new cover on since I slightly rounded one of the screw holes on it. But going back together was a breeze, maybe an hour to reassemble everything. I found myself down this rabbit hole when I noticed my fan shroud was cracked and all the room that existed with it out.
But I've got it all for you if you wanna do it, I'm definitely committed to coming!

I’m not sure how many projects we have going on wrench day but I have a 2inch Ironman lift coming in. Springs, shocks & steering dampener. Would it be possible to have some help installing it? I definitely don’t want to take away from anyone else who is wanting to tackle legit maintenance items. if I’m being honest, I don’t have any real skills or much knowledge when it comes to working on my own rig. It would be a learning experience for me. I’d be willing to pay some guys for their time or buy everyone pizza or whatever. If it’s too big a project to tackle that day then no worries. Just wanted to check here first ✊🏽

bring it. There are a few of us who need to do suspension work.

We’ve got 13 people who are coming to the wrench day this Sat, should be a great time.

Since we will have a lot going on, please bring your own tools, jack, jack stands etc.

Drew‘s got a grill at his shop we will fire up for lunch, so bring something to cook if you want.

@Mrtwooooo still thinking of doing the oil pump gasket? I also got lucky and found Publix had BOGO Landshark for anyone feeling thirsty tomorrow.
Yep he’s going to go for it. Please bring your tools if you don’t mind, thanks!

We had a great turnout at wrench day yesterday. Drew’s new shop is awesome and had plenty of space for us.

Not a whole lot of wrenching going on, but @matt32 was on the grill all day and made excellent chicken. Good times
