I have completed installing my VAIS SL2i-UP and SL2s to enable Sirius and iPod controls. It works great and I would highly recommend VAIS Technology, extremely fast support via email/phone in answering any pre-sales and post-sales questions. Installation is straightforward, and the iPod looks like an external CD changer (w/ MP3 emulation).

For those installing the SL2i-UP, be *sure* to connect this first w/o the SL2s and program it. Then power things off and connect both (the SL2s doesn't require programming).

There are some additional pictures I took, but the document from Toyota TIS is probably the best for pulling your dash apart. I didn't install the Sirius tuner under the seat, as there is plenty of room behind the nav system and glove compartment for mounting.

The official Toyota Sirius installation PDF:

Hopefully folks find this useful.

Brian,

I have another thread on this topic.

Do not install the VAIS unit anywhere near the dash. It will cause major problems with the GPS system, even if it may appear to be working properly.

It took 3 FTS's to figure out what the problem was, but it had to do with the location of the VAIS unit.

The only location to install the unit is under the passenger seat (the farthest location that the cables will reach).

I had problems with my GPS and even my AC system due to having it located under the dash.

Also, make sure the unit is grounded when you install it under the seat.

Just some friendly advice before you run into problems. The VAIS unit is fantastic, but interferes with numerous vehicle systems when not installed in the correct location. There are EMI issues...

Thanks for the heads-up. My units are currently sitting in the glove compartment itself, since I didn't program my iPod interface first, so decided to leave things half-installed for a week or two to make sure things are working correctly.

I'll let folks know where things ultimately get mounted.

...just keeping ya out of trouble in the future :)
