I have an early vac retard distributor. I’d like to cap off the diaphragm and install a pertronix in it to see how performance improves. I’d prefer not to buy a whole new distributor yet. I’m wondering if the pertronix setup for a vac retard can be swapped over to a newer vac advance distributor in the future if I end up wanting/needing one. Thanks.

Have you looked at the Petronix site to see if the same part numbers are on kits for both styles.
I did, it lists several different ones for different years. I was hoping someone would know if there was one that worked for both, but I really didn’t provide enough information for that (two distributor part numbers, etc). If I bought the 91665A for my vac retard, if there’s a vac advance distributor it could work with down the line.

Just to add some clarification here...

Speaking with Pertronix yesterday they said they prefer to go off the distributor's part number - not the year or vehicle model. They said that's the best way to cross-reference what you need and be certain the unit you buy will work in different distributors or not.
