I went to my parts guy to get a cap, points, and rotor. He had the points, ordered the cap and rotor. They ended up being the wrong ones so he left the computer and opened up the book. There was another option so he ordered those. The next time the rotor was right but the cap, which looked identical to mine, did not quite seat, rocked on the rotor. How many cap choices are there?:hhmm:

I usually refer to SOR website as a guide for the years that apply to a given part. For example, if you go to SOR (Specter Off-Road, Inc. Land Cruiser Parts and Accessories) and look up distributor caps, you see that they identify 5 distinct caps across the years of '58-87. As well, you can always call one of the vendors on MUD and they can set you up with exactly what you need.

OEM Distributor Cap - Fits 1958-8/74
OEM DIST CAP- 74-77 & 9/73-77*OEM
OEM Distributor Cap - Fits 9/77-12/78
OEM Distributor Cap - Fits 1/79-7/80
OEM Distributor Cap - Fits 8/80-8/87

thanks,
Brian

I'm just not sure that my dizzy is the stock one I guess. Not sure what the best way to identify that is. Can I find the number on it without removing it? I also need to source a new vacuum pot, my advance plate moves freely but I cannot suck enough to move it. C'mon with the suck jokes....

That's a '69 and earlier stock dizzy...
