Hi guys,

I'm currently in a bit of a situation where I'm trying to install the wings for the Dissent Offroad rear bumper on my Land cruiser and one of the captive nuts came off. I don't think there's a way for me to install the wing while holding a new nut in place on the inside. It's the third/last one that is closest to the front. Does anyone have any ideas on a solution if I want to put a bolt in this w/o a captive nut?

I was thinking maybe while the others go into their nuts upwards, I could place a bolt downwards and put a bolt on the bottom side of the wing instead. Not sure if the best solution but it was the only thing I could think of that didn't involve welding the bumper to the frame.

Any ideas would be greatly appreciated, thanks for reading!

They're pretty hard work with anything bigger than M8 so get a good one as you'll need to put a lot of pressure on the handles for the larger nut sizes.

It's a tool you'll only use infrequently, but when you need it they're amazing.

I am looking forward to a rear bumper thread as there doesn't seem to be one yet, and I'm in the market for one

M14 is a pretty big and grunty bolt.

I've never taken off the part of my 'Cruiser so it could well be an M14... but is the socket size you need 14mm? If so the bolt is more likely to be M8 or M10

Edit: I'm not trying to be a jerk. I'm just aware that not everybody speaks metric as their first language. :-)

This happened on my 99. My solution was to weld a new nut (2 actually) to the frame just like Toyota did. Helped that I had a friend with a welder and some skill.

I like that other flat bar idea too. Though, I suggest if you can weld, just weld a nut to the frame.

Cut a hole the size of the nut into some flat bar steel using a step bit. Weld nut to flat bar and insert into frame channel. Had to do this on my. 4X4Labs’s bumper.
x2. I had to do this when installing ARB bumper.

In with junclejakenz. This exact thing happened to me, I ended up over sizing/drilling multiple holes and installing 1/2" rivnuts
