I tried googling this, but it’s hard to find info on the GX470 specifically.

I believe I know the answer, but want to double check. I’ve got a buddy with new 4.56s and ARBs in his 2000 Tundra that he’s selling. Will those diffs bolt into my 2004 GX? It looks like the answer is “no”, but I need to ask.

The answer seems to be "sort of." The 2000 Tundra has the same 8.0 rear 3rd member according to LC Engineering, but your GX is running 3.73 gears. If you add the 4.56 gears with ARB to the rear of your GX you'll also have to change the front diff gears to 4.56.

Ok. So the front is a definite no? But the rear will bolt in? Changing gears would be fine if I went that way, but I probably won’t if I can’t use both diffs.

Sorry, for some reason I thought you were only talking about the rear. I didn't look up and see if the fronts were the same. Might be on the website I linked.

05-07 tundra will fit...may have an ADD on it so will need to consider that as the Tundra wasn't full time. Worst case, you can take the R&P and regear, may not easily swap. The ADD is an additional component. Interesting thought though...if you can make the ADD work and you get hubs you could go to part time 4WD (with CDL, etc due to our transfer case). :p
