Hey I was wondering if anyone knew if the A343F out of a petrol 95 series would work in a diesel one. I expect the bellhousing to be different but are there any other differences that will stop it from being possible.
Diesel automatics are very hard to come by compared to the petrol variants.

I'm not 100% sure but just looking at this list of models that were running the A343F trans, their is a mix of petrol and diesel, particularly the Prado as outlined. That screenshot was taken from the Aisin Warner transmission wiki page.

Maybe to be sure, contact a Toyota wrecker/breaker and ask if they have an A343F transmission in stock to suit your car/engine. And while you've got them, ask them if they're interchangeable. Those guys are usually hugely knowledgeable with that stuff I find and might be able to sell you everything you need to do the job?

According to the Ellery repair manual, as long as it is from a petrol 90 series and not a 120, the gearing and the housing should be the same in the petrol and diesel A343F transmissions. It says they switched to a similar transmission, the A340F, with the introduction of the 1GR-FE motor in late 2002.

Hope that helps!
