When I was reading the FSM for the procedure for removing my rear axle shafts, it said that the spider gears and shims would fall out when you remove the retaining rod and sleeve from the differential carrier. Are the shims those perforated washers between the spier gears and carrier? I wasn't sure, but just to be on the safe side, I kept each one with the gear it was on when I pulled everything apart. The two side ones (with the splined gears) I just kept on the gears, and the top & bottom ones looked to be the same thickness. Just wanted to make sure I'm doing things right. I'm still very leary about anything I do with my rear diff.
