Hey all,

Hoping you might all be able to help me in my search for a nice 60 series diesel Land Cruiser. Looking for something that has been well cared for and is not a bucket of rust. I've been combing over eBay and craigslist as well as the classifieds on mud searching, but I figure it wouldn't hurt to have more eyes out.

Some general specs:

Left-hand-drive (a must)

- 4 or 6 cyl diesel
- heating (a/c if possible)
- Manual transmission preferred
- Power steering is nice?
- towing ready would be great!
- I like the split rear doors, but I know those are quite rare so not expected.

Location does not matter if the condition is right - I'd be more than happy to travel to get it, but western America is where I am.

I'm not looking for a crawler, but I am looking for something that will be reliable and dependable that will last me for the next 30 years of my life. I'm trying to keep a reasonable budget, so I don't need a whole bunch of expedition gear on it either. Mostly using it around town and on the highway. Some towing here and there.

The cheaper the better, but if it's really spectacular I can try to grease the slot machines and make it happen.

Feel free to message me through the forum or send an email connorebb(at)gmail.com if you find anything.

Thanks muddies!

Have you considered buying an FJ60 and swapping in a 3b,2H, or 12H-t? If you do it on your own it will be a lot cheaper in the end and you will not have to worry about the rust issues that most of the Canadian rigs have.

Plus being on the west coast there are plenty of good donor rigs to choose from that are rust free.

I am, unfortunately, not set up to do that at this time. I'd be really interested to do it, but I'm still transitioning between houses a lot and don't have a solid work space. Maybe one day...

I have a 62 with a 3b in it and think its super, but the amount of work to do the swap, while not super difficult is substantial. I did not do it and just the little things left over are numerous and time-consuming.
I would look hard at Joelikessno's bj60, adding a heater core would be simple and very inexpensive, the stuff that HAS been done is a lot bigger than the stuff that needs done.

If you are serious about getting something that will last for the next 30 years you should take a hard look at Landcruisers Direct. Yes, the rigs are right hand drive but you can drive it. Trust me, if my wife is comfortable enough to own her OWN right hand drive Landcruiser you can do it.;) Plus the vehicles are pretty damn clean for a 25+ year old rig. I gave up a 2007 FJ Cruiser to buy my 1989 HJ61 from Steve and I couldn't be happier!

Thanks for the leads, guys. I think I'm going to wait a bit and save up some money before making any moves. Thanks again for all of the help.
