Those that know my story, know I hated to sell my 2001 LX a couple years ago. I've been driving a 2003 Sequoia for the last year with understanding that it is going to be my wife's if and when I find the right 100 series to get back into. I think I just found it.

First let me say that I call DIBS if there is anyone else looking at it!

2005 Lexus LX 470 Bryant, Arkansas | Landers Auto Sales

I ran a carfax and the vin through Lexus...It is one owner and spent it's whole life in central Arkansas. Nothing major has happened other than the DVD headrests being stolen and replaced with "regular" ones. Dealer service throughout its life including the timed factory services (diff fluid, water pump...). It was at least a woman who brought it in because the service records said multiple times "she" when referring to the customer. And I think I saw where they replaced the brakes like 5 times over it life LOL.

In my mind I see either rich woman bought this to cart around the kids. The rear cup holder was replaced because it was "stuck" closed from what I figure is spilled juice or something.

What do you guys think? Should I pull the trigger? Too many miles? Is the price right? I'm not keen on the color, but I think I can over look that for a one owner locally owned 100....especially with the 5 speed tranny.

PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE HELP ME! Either talk sense into me, or tell me not to do it.

I appreciate you all and your opinion on this.

I think it looks fine at that price. That color may hide the trail rash better than mine. I am sure they screwed the old lady out of it on trade so I bet they have some room to work on price. Start negotiating . . .

Check the AHC system out. Make sure it works as it should. If they can't give some clear service records on it, I would negotiate that into it. Also the typical timing belt service, water pump etc. Check for rust underneath, as well. I'd start with them at $17K and go down.

What are you wasting time reading this post for; go buy it. Seriously, it looks great and if the history is as good as you've read about, just negotiate a bit on price and take home a nice LX.

Service records said nothing about the AHC. What do I look for when checking that out?

If they will negotiate the AHC repaired by Toyota out of the equation, that could be a good $2K right there...all you would need to do is remove AHC and install a regular suspension. This is sounding more like a $15K truck...

BTW no sticker for TB. I saw in service records WP was changed but nothing on TB.
I saw the WP but did notice they didn't do TB. Did you try negotiating with them? The plan will be to eventually rip out the AHC anyway, but that would end up being down the road.

I think I would have to jump at 15. Don't you guys? If the AHC doesn't cycle, what is the worst thing that can happen? It's stuck at whatever height?

BTW, it's priced right at book value.

$20k seems kinda high for a 2005 LX with 166k on the clock. There's a 2007 LX with 141k for sale locally for only $22k. Two years newer with 25k fewer miles for only $2k more. You should be able to do better than $20k for the 2005.
2007 LEXUS LX470

Agreed. Start at $15k and work your way up. While not a fan of the color, put a little hardware on it and it will look - and function - good. Go for it. Worst that can happen? They don't move on price and you're no worse for the wear.

I agree $20,000 for that 2005 is too much. But a 10-year-old Michigan truck for $22,000? Unless that thing lived inside for 7 months out of the year, I'd pass on that one too. I'lL NEVER buy a car further north than North Carolina.

unicorn would be that same price and 80k-90k miles with TB/WP replaced and a fresh set of shoes. def not unicorn pricing or mileage. but might be worth a negotiation with the dealer....

I paid $20k for my Las Vegas rust free 2005 about 3 1/2 years ago with 109k miles on it. Had Slee do the OME 2" lift w/ diff drop and a set of Slee step sliders. It had a perfect Lexus service history with timing belt and water pump done around 100k miles. Since then I've had everything baselined, even did fuel filter, and heater connector replacement along with new BFG/AT KO's 33". So I probably spent another $4-5k on it and driven it 30k miles. But I know what I have and it's the kind of Beast you "keep". Hope this info gives you more info on what to buy and what to expect. P.S. The only work I do personally on my 100 is grease the driveshafts. So my numbers are all retail.

When I read unicorn I thought no Nav, factory lockers, a unique color combo, and low miles. This is not a unicorn, but it looks like a nice truck.

Oh, if it feels right buy it.:cool:
