Did any third gen 4Runners come with a Limited Slip?

This is my first post with my new 4Runner (1996 Limited 3.4 auto). I thought third gens were all open diffs or electric locker. I picked up this all stock 96 from a mom who has had it for six years and is the second owner. I made sure to check if it had the electric locker when I bought it but no such luck. When I went to put it on ramps in some loose gravel though...

It doesn't bind or chirp around corners so I don't think its locked up completely.
What do you guys think is up? Someone must have snuck an aftermarket limited slip in or what?

For the elocker to work, you have to first be in 4-low. Then hit the RR-dif lock button and roll forward. When the light stops blinking you are engaged.

You already said you don't have the e-locker.
Look at the differential housing near the fill plug, there is supposed to be a sticker that says "LSD Fluid only." You could also check by jacking up the rear end and trying to spin the wheels in opposite directions.

What are you guys talking about? NONE of the 3rd Gen 4Runners came with LSD---only the optional rear locker. And please do not use that CarsDirect link. They often put "LSD" in place of "Differential Locker", because 99% of the people do not know the difference.

Anyway, mdrohman, any open diff car will peel out like that in loose dirt or gravel. My old old '84 Nissan Sentra did that. If you're worried, just do a fluid change. I do that to all of my used cars I pick up, anyway. Good luck with the 4Runner. Miss my old 98 Limited. :crybaby:
